12/12-14/08: Obama's Weekly Address

Transcript from many places, but provided by the Daily Kos' Barbin MD. In her post, Barbin talks about Obama's selection of one of New York's realest in Shaun Donovan.
President-Elect Barack Obama announced in this morning's weekly address that Shaun Donovan, Commissioner of Housing Preservation and Development in New York City, has been tapped for the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Not surprisingly, given the announcement, Obama's address focused on the economy and the resultant housing crisis.

In his New York position, Donovan oversaw the largest municipal affordable housing program in the nation, according to the Obama transition team, and he led his department in setting standards for energy efficiency in public housing, in educating low-income New Yorkers about predatory lending scams and sub-prime loans, and in developing inclusionary zoning laws that promoted transit-oriented growth in areas with underdeveloped land in order to approach sustainability.
