The Break/Sports Thread #1 For 2/25/10: Wayne Bridge Declines To Play For England Again

In a stunner of a story, Wayne Bridge has quit the England National Team thanks to the situation with John Terry.

Bridge has pulled his name for the important upcoming friendly on the FIFA international date against Egypt as well as anything else in the future, including the World Cup.

The personal issues aside, with Ashley Cole out until at least late April (and that being ambitious), Bridge' decision to not play for England because of Terry puts Fabio Capello in a bind at left back.

Everton's Leighton Baines is the now the first choice for the country in that position. And though his quality is improving with every single day, he is susceptible still to give up crosses and pushing up to he field too far at times. Simply, Bridge on his day is a little better than Baines at the moment.

Nevertheless, Bridge's decision personally could be viewed as a selfish one though, especially in the court of public opinion that obviously backed him big time in the aftermath of all of this.

But you can sure bet he isn't sorry about it.
