The FIFA World Cup Thread #3/Sports Thread Special #4 For 6/21/10: Despite Miss Chance After Miss Chance, Spain Win Comfortable Over Honduras

The Final Analysis:
Despite missing more chances than teams have had goals this tournament, Spain should be satisfied with just getting back on track tonight and having the clear cutting edge against Honduras.

Villa should not had a least a hat trick, and Torres should have had a brace himself. But more important than their poor misses (including one of the worst all time penalties from Villa) was how those two make it so easier for their team and each other.

The space that Torres provides for Villa is important, and it gets Spain back to the level of what they were at Euro 2008.

And the fact that Spain didn't win 7-0 in this game like Portugal did today means more nerves for Chilean fans all over, as Spain will be full throttle on them on Friday.

The Man of the Match:

Group H Standings
Chile 6 pts (+2)
Spain 3 pts (+1)
Switzerland 3 pts (0)
Honduras 0 pt (-3)

And The Full Match Archive:

Lineups:
Honduras: Valladares, Mendoza, Chavez, Figueroa, Izaguirre, Palacios, Guevarra, Turcios, Martinez, Suazo

Spain: Castillas, Capdevila, Puyol, Pique, Ramos, Navas, Sergio, Alonso, Xavi, Torres, Villa

The stats say it all:
If Fernando Torres was on full form and Xavi need how to do things with his head, then this could be Portugal's scoreline in the 1st ha;f.

Still though, it may end up that way. I see nothing to lead me to believe otherwise.
