Sports Thread #2 For 6/4/10: REMATCH OFFICIAL: It's Soderling-Nadal 2 (2010 French Open Men's Semifinals)

Robin Soderling has reached his second consecutive French Open Final, defeating Tomas Berdych in a five set battle of slugging giants.

Soderling was down two sets to one and seemingly in trouble in the 4th set, lacking the consistent power and precision on his serve and forehand side that he showed in defeating Roger Federer on Tuesday. But the Swede found his forehand as Berdych lost the contact point on his serve in the final two sets, allowing him to return to the Grand Slam Final that he reached just 12 months ago.

He awaits the winner between Rafael Nadal and Jurgen Melzer, with the overwhelming favorite Nadal already penciled into most people's final.

Update (12:20 PM): Rafael Nadal is in clear command, as expect, up two sets to none on Jurgen Melzer, headed to a rematch revenge encounter with Soderling.

Update 2 (1:13PM): And there it is.....despite a valiant effort in the third set by Melzer to force a tiebreak, Rafael Nadal is into the final with a 6-2, 6-3, 7-6 (6) win.

It sets up the match that is just as intriguing as another Nadal-Federer final, and it's between the man who knocked off Nadal last year (despite his leg tendinitis bothering him) in Soderling, and the man wanting to get revenge for that loss.

Oh, and by the way, Nadal can't stand Soderling.
