The 2nd Thread For 8/10/10: The Article Was Just As Dumb As Gibbs

While the majority focuses on Gibbs stupid comments (at least he had the courage to come out on record and say it instead of hiding anonymously as Greenwald indicated nicely), attention needs to begiven for how craptacular the Hill's Sam Youngman wrote his article today.

He phrases the typical corporate media lazy response of all the left being angry with Obama here:
In late July, Obama made a surprise video appearance, with an assist from Maddow, at the NetRoots Nation convention in Las Vegas, where the professional left had gathered to grouse about its disappointment in the president.

Yet, just a few paragraphs above, he scribes:
Gibbs said the professional left is not representative of the progressives who organized, campaigned, raised money and ultimately voted for Obama.

Progressives, Gibbs said, are the liberals outside of Washington “in America,” and they are grateful for what Obama has accomplished in a shattered economy with uniform Republican opposition and a short amount of time.
Youngman doesn't bother to ask the senseless secretary to describe the difference between the professional left from the progressives.

In addition, this writer than gets this bizarre quote from this professor who obviously hasn't looked at the entire left's perspective to know that the base is cognizant of all the accomplishments under the Administration so far:
Larry Berman, an expert on the presidency and a political science professor at the University of California-Davis, said he has been surprised that liberals aren’t more cognizant of the pragmatism Obama has had to employ to pass landmark reforms.

“The irony, of course, is that Gibbs’s frustration reflects the fact that the conservative opposition has been so effective at undermining the president’s popular approval,” Berman said.

“And from Gibbs’s perspective, and the White House perspective, they ought to be able to catch a break from people who, in their view, should be grateful and appreciative.”
Whoever this Berman guy is, the fact that Youngman was too lazy to get a second quote to even combat Berman's claim shows what type of middle of the road journalist he is.

But what did you expect from The Hill. They always want to rush and make the left look crazy and angry, and more angry, and MORE angry than what the full story is.

For if they told the full story, it would ruin their narrative. Your Beltway lovely media at its finest.

Updated: By the way, Gibbs has apologized. Boy that was dumb from him.
