Sports Thread For 8/17/10: Young Boys More Manly Than Spurs

For most of the first half, the Young Boys made Tottenham Spurs' fans want to change their side's name to "Tottenham Babies", as the Swiss side took a jaw dropping 3-0 lead on the Premier League outfit.

But a header from Sebastian Bassong and an amazing strike from Roman Pavlyuchenko saved Harry Redknapp and his side from an all time embarrassing night, as the Londoners pulled it back to 3-2 to possibly be slight favorites after all in next week's return leg.

Ajax got the crucial away goal early on before Kiev got a vital equalizer to end their first leg at one all.

The tie is still very much in the balance between Zenit St. Petersburg and Auxuerre, as Aleksandr Kerzhakov third minute effort was enough to give the Russian side the slight edge.

The same could be said of Rosenburg and Kobenhavn, with the Norwegian champs taking a 2-1 advantage into their 2nd match with the Danish side.

But the tie looks all but over between upstars MSK Zilina and AC Sparta Praha. The Slovakia side were rampant in a stunning 2-0 road win over the Czech outfit.
