TWD Saturday 1st Thread/TWD Saturday S-Thread #1 For 11/3/12: United Handled Dreadful Gunners

FULLTIME: Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal

A deserved, if not sloppy win, for Manchester United, in a Big 7 clash versus an Arsenal team who provided another lethargic performance for the 5th straight game.

It was a dreadful performance from Arsenal's new signers and young players. It really does say something bad for Arsenal when their goalkeeper, Vito Mannone, was their best player today. Mannone was actually good today, but with Arsenal traditionally always having their weakest player be  at goalkeeper, it says the dire mediocre position the club is at the moment in England and in Europe.

The First Version of the thread, including Preview and In Game Talk, is down below this sentence.

Bacary Sagna returns to the lineup today for Arsenal in a must not lose if they are to have any realistic challenge to United, City, and Chelsea for the title this season.

Ashley Young is in the lineup in the fixture that showed how world class he could be. Can he find that magic today and get back to the level he has won last season at this time?

Robin van Persie is the obvious protagonist today, as one of the biggest games in the Barclays Premier League competition is upon us again at Old Trafford.

Halftime thoughts and post match views to come, with live commentary on the birdie feed.

HALFTIME analysis: Manchester United 1-0 Arsenal (van Persie 3')

If you didn't know the teams, the players' names, and the history of the two clubs, you would have thought it was a bunch of sandlot players battling each other with how ugly that fast half was.

Take nothing away from van Persie's class goal, another one on his much improved right foot. But Vermalean's miskick lead to that chance, and it was taken from the tailsman Dutchman.

If both teams play like this in midweek, they will suffer heavy defeats in the Champions League on the road, especially Arsenal.

Maybe Arsene Wenger should have signed Dempsey instead of Giroud or Podolski. It's a question I will keep on asking because frankly, Wenger let Dempsey go to their rivals, when he could have purchased him for a reasonable bargain.
