The Straight Jacket Award Of The Day For 3/29/10: Our PostRacial Society, TAKE #32451

Image
This one guy thinks he can tell a person's race by their voice on a phone, and also recommends that C-Span change their names to Black-Span if he continues to think it is growing in calls from black people. Just for this high quality call alone, whatever this racist clowns name is, he is deserving of the...... ......Straight Jacket Award.

Well, That Was A Stab

And it probably was well deserved : Pelosi could be obviously annoyed at how she and most in the House will get slammed by the likes of FDL and just other progressives who don't want the House to fold easily, but will in the end properly do so to the Senate. Especially those house progressives who said they wouldn't vote on a final bill without a public option, but may do so at bill's end in the conference. It was really a stinging one from Pelosi at the end, and it could lead to some brining up tensions between the Speaker of the House and the White House.

The Straight Jacket Award Of The Day For 12/24/09: I Feel For Her Christmas Tree

Image
After that disturbing and funny caller worried that his prayers on at least one senator not voting for health care may have harmed Jim Inhofe's presence in Congress, this morning featured another C-SPAN caller truly worthy of The Straight Jacket Award. A lady from Kansas named Bunny has placed herself in history. Voicing her utter displeasure with the Senate passing health care this morning, Ms. Bunny sure was (unintentionally) funny. BUNNY: "I am so disappointed, I have taken my Christmas tree down, I have taken reef off my house, I've taken all the lights down. This is suppose to be a nation of God, and it isn't. They absolutely have ruined Christmas for all the senators and representatives who are, suppose to be, under God. This is God's holiday. C-SPAN: "So you took down your Christmas tree because of the senate health care bill?" BUNNY: "I certainly did, and I would like to see every light in the nation go out, especially in the White House. ...

Sometimes You Have To Handle Your Own Business: Robert Gibbs Blew It Today

Not coming in defense of Sonia Sotomayor's supposed controversial comments, White House Press secretary Robert Gibbs says that she used a "poor choice of words" back in 2001. Watch it right below: Ok, now here's what President Obama told NBC's Brian Williams tonight on his reaction to Sotomayor's comments: Major difference between the two, and not because one is on C-Span and the other on NBC. Gibbs barely defended Sotomayor while Obama defended her comments much more. For Gibbs to use the word "poor" was an absolute terrible decision on his part. I'll let BarbinMD fully express this : That's just great. Buy into a rightwing, false talking point and apologize for it. Right down to agreeing with a Fox News reporter that she said she would "come to a better conclusion." Read the damn speech, Robert and get your facts straight. And as for what you think she'd say? Let her say it and don't put words in her mouth. Better yet, don...

10/8/08- TWD's Agenda for the Day, Part 1: The Second Debate in Its Entirety

Thanks to C-SPAN as always for their brilliance. Updated: As you will see in this debate (or have already seen), McCain continues his reckless assault on earmarks, and in particular, slamming Obama for a $3 million earmark or a "projector." Once again, it was another terrible distortion given by McCain, giving off the tone that Obama gave off this money for a stupid cause. Thanks to the always diligent and terrific Deoliver47 at the Kos , here is the background on that "projector", and how important it is from the NY Times comments section: I am an Associate Professor of Astronomy at the University of Chicago (the University that today has added yet another Nobel Prize winner in the sciences for the US). I would like to comment on Sen. McCain's statement during the today's debate that Sen. Obama has earmarked "$3 million for an overhead projector at a planetarium in Chicago, Ill. My friends, do we need to spend that kind of money?" The way Sen....
