Image
(Viewer and listener discretion is advised, especially if you aren't black or from a diverse minority American community):   It's a new one from Talib with the Chef on the track, it's Violations and it serves as your music energy boost for this current moment here at TWD: More to come here, stay tuned.

TWD's Song of The Week For 7/10/10: Reflection Eternal- "Ballad of the Black Gold" (2010)

While some just get enamored by crap "image driven artists" (and that is a slam at that loser, not Jay-Z of course), the clear song of the week is another look at how oil just runs it all: Reflection Eternal "Ballad of the Black Gold" from Sam Ellison on Vimeo .

Music Wakeup Call/The Summer Soul #1 For 7/7/10: Talib Kweli and Reflection Eternal- Ballad Of The Black Gold

What a song, what a song, what a song, and you have to appreciate Talib even more for this one. More than just about BP, for those who didn't know. Reflection Eternal "Ballad of the Black Gold" from Sam Ellison on Vimeo .

Music Thread For 3/22/10: The New

Reflection Eternal feat Bub B "Strangers" is 2 minutes and 52 seconds of utter brilliance. Hi-Tek with this beat continues to show how he's the most underrated. A preview of the still same Usher and the bootleg Lil Kim's video for And Big Boi combines with Andre 3000, I mean, B.O.B in probably the only thing that will sound like Outkast this year. Other than that, not much else new worth the time here.

Music Thread #2 for 6/3/09: TWD Condolences To The Family Of Famed Blues Singer Koko Taylor

Image
TWD Condolences are given to Koko Taylor, who passed away today at 80 . Taylor was known as the Queens of Blues, for those who didn't know, and sadly died today of heart complications after surgery. The Chicago Tribune's Greg Kot has a great obituary on her. Pink got really upset over Kanye for his obsession over "fur" in a fashion show, especially with the the vice president of PETA right by their side. DMX copped to a plea deal for his assault charge. Mos Def and Talib Kweli produce a track that's needed to be heard . My Bed-Sty pride is speaking when I say that, but with those two, it is always quality. KRS-One has an upcoming book called " The Gospel of Hip Hop ". And on a side non-music note, "So You Think you Can Dance" is the most subjective show ever.
