Pure Common Sense Move

Shame that it took so long to figure out, but glad it is starting to catch on : Call them "the Obama tax cuts for the middle class." Top Democratic leaders in the House are discussing using that phrase to rebrand President Obama's proposed extension of the Bush tax cuts for those making less than $250,000, senior leadership aides tell me. The use of the phrase has the informal support of Nancy Pelosi and Majority Whip James Clyburn, and Pelosi has used the phrase in private meetings, leadership aides tell me. Rank and file House Dems are privately discussing the phrase. Top Senate aides also like the idea. Now Duncan Black has been asking that question on why they haven't down this obvious good idea for a while, but it probably only hit them when a staffer or someone saw this from the Ny Times . Hard to see them ever thank a prominent blogger for creating a key political strategy.

Wall Street is now giving Republicans more donation money than they are Democrats after the nutcase party defended them so valiantly in the last few months . He really is still stuck in 2008 . John McCain just can't quit Obama. A fun pattern has emerged from the Arizona Republican's Senate campaign, as he's fought through a heated Republican primary challenge from former Rep. J.D. Hayworth. While McCain has certainly been dishing out the attacks on Hayworth, he's also been rallying the Republican base by training his fire on another nemesis: President Barack Obama, the man who defeated him in the 2008 presidential election. In many ways this makes sense. Obama is both a cause of and target for the conservative base's ire, and anything that McCain can do to rally them on that basis should do him well. And as Larry Sabato once explained to us, McCain can be much more credible by being "Mr. Anti-Obama" than he can by being "Mr. Anti-Immigratio...

Alan Greenspan Is Now Un-American

Remember when CNBC Wall Street shill extraordinaire Trish Regan said this on Sunday (fast forward to 5:45-6:00): She called taxing the rich and letting the Bush Tax cuts go "un-American." Well, from Mr. Bubbles : I guess Trish Regan will tell Andrea Mitchell's husband that he is un-American.

Yesterday's Leftovers For 7/13/10: They Could Teach Babies How To Cry

The rich sure do lose their minds and thensome with the fears of the insane Bush tax cuts possibly coming to an end. Two great latest examples came from the Sunday crap show circuit, and boy were they enjoyable. Arizona's other A-hole Senator got his temper to come to the surface when asked that question from non other than Chris Wallace about those evil days of possible post-Bost tax era: But maybe even more disgusting to see is resident top class shill Trish Regan of fully own and free to whore CNBC described how raising taxes on the rich is truly un-American . If you can stomach it, she says that wonderful patriotic comment at around 5:45 -6:00 (because the rest of the segment isn't worth seeing, although I do give Joe Klein credit of course). Someone provided one of the realest quotes based on watching that pathetic and selfish display from just another "money honey." It was a quote that justified the total incongruity of it all: That's the po...

Just A Reminder With How Innovative They Are

Amazingly enough, you'll never hear from the teabagging militia and all the conservative nutcases about how this along with some little wars are the real reasona why we are in record debt. But that's okay though, because letting the truth get in our way would be deleterious to our insane and consistently wrong talking points. At the end of 2010, the Bush tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefited the wealthiest households are scheduled to expire, but their demise is far from a foregone conclusion. As our nation struggles amidst the Great Recession, we can no longer afford tax cuts built on the failed trickle-down philosophies of the past, but there are those who are fighting to make the full tax cuts permanent nonetheless. We cannot allow them to succeed. By the end of 2010, these tax cuts will have cost our nation $2.5 trillion! These tax cuts continue to drain our nation of its capacity to preserve vital services, fund education, invest in research and infrastructure, build a...
