The best season ever in the sport's history, and his emotion is quite wonderful, even with his petulant, brat behavior sometimes. Other Notable Events  Big ups to Sporting Kansas City, who finally got over the hump against the Dynamo to go to MLS Cup. We'll see if it will be Portland in their first MLS Cup or Real Salt Lake coming to Kansas City for the season's conclusion. It appears that Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are back to being real good friends off the court again. RT @Rafael_Plaza Nadal y Djokovic. It won't matter that much if Maria Sharapova gets Sven Groeneveld as her coach. She is still not a Grand Slam winner anymore if she has to encounter a healthy Serena Williams and at least Vika Azarenka on a fast surface. And that's with other players improving. Here we go folks: Yes Michael Schumacher, you did cross the line yesterday with that disgusting move. And the fact it took you almost a day to realize that is quite sad : n post-race interviews the Mercedes driver suggested his tactics had been harsh but fair. However, having received a 10-place grid penalty for the next round from the Budapest stewards - and having had a day to reflect - Schumacher has now conceded that he overstepped the mark. “Yesterday right after the race I was still in the heat of the moment, but after I watched the scene with Rubens again, I must say that the stewards were right in their assessment - the manoeuvre against him was too hard,” he told his official website. “Of course I wanted to make it difficult for him to overtake and I showed him clearly that I didn’t want to let him down the inside, but I wasn’t trying to endanger him with my manoeuvre. If he felt that way, then sorry, that was not my intention.” Darrelle Revis is the 7th highest paid d...

Sports Thread #1 for 6/19/09: A Massive Rift Going Down With Formula One

Image
Photo from Reuters Imagine if Chevy and Ford decided to leave NASCAR in general and form it's own series. Now, times that scenario by the rest of the world. Your product: Formula 1's current chaos admits its powerhouse teams threatening to leave the series and form a rival one. The threat by members of the F1 Teams Association (Fota) intensifies their row with world motorsport boss Max Mosley over his budget cap proposals. "The teams have declined to alter their original conditional entries to the 2010 F1 Championship," said the teams. Mosley is placing a cap at 40 million Euros. None of the main competitors want that. And none of the fans want this at all. Formula one is still big intentionally despite fading away in America. But maybe they could use an example from the States with how fracturing a popular auto racing series can ruin the sport for a long while: the Indycar series.
