Sports Thread For 8/2/10: The Runthrough

Here we go folks:

Yes Michael Schumacher, you did cross the line yesterday with that disgusting move. And the fact it took you almost a day to realize that is quite sad:
n post-race interviews the Mercedes driver suggested his tactics had been harsh but fair. However, having received a 10-place grid penalty for the next round from the Budapest stewards - and having had a day to reflect - Schumacher has now conceded that he overstepped the mark.

“Yesterday right after the race I was still in the heat of the moment, but after I watched the scene with Rubens again, I must say that the stewards were right in their assessment - the manoeuvre against him was too hard,” he told his official website.

“Of course I wanted to make it difficult for him to overtake and I showed him clearly that I didn’t want to let him down the inside, but I wasn’t trying to endanger him with my manoeuvre. If he felt that way, then sorry, that was not my intention.”
Darrelle Revis is the 7th highest paid defensive back...................on his own team. And you can now make that 8th now since first road draft pick Kyle Wilson has signed.

If that isn't one of the all time slaps to the face in the insanity of some NFL contracts folks, then we know we can find at least 20 more.

This is all on the GM Mike Tannenbum (and owner Woody Johnson), because he must have been out of his mind to think the league's best cornerback would play his 4th season making just $1 million.

It's another case of front office execs not really caring about their players like they should have.

Another Blackhawk leaves, as Antti Niemi leaves Chicago and is replaced by Marty Turco.

Serena Williams' bust up with The Farmers Classic is hilarious. Shame that after the Bryan Bothers break the ATP Tour doubles titles record and Sam Querrey defeating Andy Murray in the singles final that this is the top highlight coming out of UCLA.

What a perfect birthday weekend for Victoria Azarenka. So perfect, she had to pull out of San Diego.
