The Dumbest Question Ever From A White House Reporter

Image
And it is from CBS' Bill Plante, who really embarrassed himself with this question today, "How will this effect the election?" (Go right to mark 5: 38 to the end). Our centrist media, vapid culture, embarrassing itself and thinking about its desperate horserace desires instead of being real journalists focusing on real details. So sad, as always. Plante acted like a Fox News personality today. He ought to be ashamed of himself. (EDIT: New, much more smaller video here).

CBS, With The AP's Help, Does Their "Chicken Little" On The Social Security Report

Image
The Social Security report just came out today, and as expected, news organizations like CBS are providing the alarmist headlines placating into those deserving to harm the very stable program. And CBS (along with the Associated Press) sure did have quite the lead in to support that knee jerk (and very false) title : The annual checkup of the government's big benefit programs for the elderly shows the Social Security program is projected to pay out more in benefits than it collects in taxes for the first time this year and next year. The Social Security trust fund is expected to be exhausted in 2037, the same date as in last year's report. What CBS and the AP exhibited in that article is your latest example of our Jokenalism in the year 2010. If any serious reporting was done on this issue by those outlets or any other news source who create that type of headline, leading the right wing nuts to declare again "Social Security is going broke", then they would ...

The Break/TWD Condolences For 5/3/10: Lynn Redgrave

Image
An accomplish actress passses at age 67 because of cancer : Lynn Redgrave, an introspective and independent player in her family's acting dynasty who became a 1960s sensation as the freethinking title character of "Georgy Girl" and later dramatized her troubled past in such one-woman stage performances "Shakespeare for My Father" and "Nightingale," has died. She was 67. Her publicist Rick Miramontez, speaking on behalf of her children, said Redgrave died peacefully Sunday night at her home in Connecticut. Children Ben, Pema and Annabel were with her. "Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer," they said in a statement Monday. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time." T...

Sports Monday Special Thread #4 For 4/5/10: The Empire Strikes Back

Image
A classic that had to end the way most of America didn't want . But it still was a classic. And big credit to Brian Zoubek and his progression, because it really elevated Duke to that championship level. Oh, and Jennifer Hudson's One Shining Moment was just awful. AWFUL

Sports Monday Special Thread #2 For 4/5/10: The Final Two Title Game

Image
180 degrees difference of two comparative points means that they are total opposites of each other. They are directly reside at each other's maximum alternative position, representing an ideal contrast. It can't be stated enough that this year's installment of the Final Two Title Game in men's basketball represents 180 degrees. But in regards to the play on the court, and the hopes of an entire state (along with a nation of temporary bandwagoning supporters), 180 degrees does not seperate the two participants. And there could be no separation at all after night's end. That is the hopes of coach Brad Stevens and his Butler Bulldog team, as they look to make history and win their first national title tonight in as many appearances against one of the most recognized teams (and definitely the most polarized) in the sport, Duke. Mike Krzyzewski has stood in benevolent awe of how Stevens has become the hottest coach in the nation, guaranteed to get a massive payda...

The Fun Thread For 3/30/10: Letterman On The RNC's Strip Club Policy

Genius: Who knew Mario was evil ? I'm shocked Derek Jeter isn't on this list . Did you know there are 478 "gay" animals ........seriously. Get ready for the IPhone . This "Kick Ass" movie is making a lot of people angry because of kids cursing. And finally, to close out, I have got to give a deserved shoutout to Dave Days and his hilarious video for Miley Cyrus . I was very skeptical at first, but it's worth the watch: Your Fun Thread for the day.

A Weird FOX Impersonation

Image
I guess "The Eye" is not opened to upholding any integrity and honesty. We all know CBS has already tarnished itself with their utter hypocrisy in regards to what they feel is a proper ad for the Super Bowl. Their choice to break their previous non-advocacy rules (and alter them later) for Tebow and Focus on the Family but choose to be concerned about TEH Gays and their banning on their ad has received growing negative attention as the NFL's ultimate contest approaches. And the castigation against their dishonest ways may continue to rise with how they have actually helped Focus on the Family in shaping their ad. Journalism ethics be damned : According to a report in The Daily Beast, CBS worked for months with Focus on the Family developing the anti-choice ad's script featuring college football star Tim Tebow which the network ultimately approved (surprise, surprise): The major broadcast networks have avoided political advocacy ads for years, so CBS's ...

TWD Condolences For 8/19/09: 60 Minutes Creator Certainly Changed The Game

Image
Photo from the AP's Jim Cooper He was sick for a while with cancer, but he blessed a lot of people who knew they were blessed by him, and who didn't know, for a majority of his 86 years. It would be a shame if sites who championed Bob Novak yesterday did not do equally the same for this man. Salutations indeed and God bless to his family. A legend, no question.

Corporate Media Going Bonkers Over Obama Calling On Nico Pitney

Image
After Obama called on Nico Pitney of the Huffington Post today in the press conference, the elite media have been going bonkers over that (and will continue to). Hackio's doing their best to help fuel their anger In what appeared to be a coordinated exchange, President Obama called on the Huffington Post's Nico Pitney near the start of his press conference and requested a question directly about Iran. “Nico, I know you and all across the Internet, we've been seeing a lot of reports coming out of Iran,” Obama said, addressing Pitney. “I know there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?” Pitney, as if ignoring what Obama had just said, said: “I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian.” Then Calderone writes this CBS Radio's Mark Knoller, a veteran White House correspondent, said over Twitter it was "very unusual that Obama called on Huffington Post seco...

The Ugliness of Voter Supression, Part 2

We talked about this earlier today , and now, look at this (from September 30th, and Katie Couric's show of all places). Tehn look at jamess diary at the Kos. When will the Corporate-owned Media start covering the Real Story? (Kudos to CBS, for starting the investigation!) Don't let this happen to you or anybody you know, no matter who they vote for. This is democracy at stake here. Finally, it looks like CNN is doing it's damn job for a change: HAHAHAHAHAHA, some of these names are out of the playbook of Bart Simpson, seriously.

10/17/08- TWD's Agenda For The Day, Part 2: They Are Even Throwing Their Own Weapon Under The Bus

Part two of today's agenda is thanks to four sources, and they stem from this order: Vyan at the Kos TP's Faiz Shakir ABC News CBS News They are all about the shame that has come to not only "Joe the Plumber", but also, and more sadly, to the McCain-Palin campaign for once again, showing why they are the worst ticket to ever run for office. The Think Progress and network links wouldn't have been possible without Vyan's effort. Via Thinkprogress. Last night, Sarah Palin said she didn’t want to talk about Wurzelbacher. "I begged our speechwriters, ‘Don’t make me say Joe the Plumber, please, in any speeches," she said. After failing to properly vet Wurzelbacher’s situation, the McCain campaign is apparently now throwing him overboard and moving on. As Vyan said, maybe Palin feels that way because of what Joe said yesterday after Obama educated him on Wednesday about his tax plan again. So today, Joe, who said he makes much less than $250,000, reluctant...
