A Weird FOX Impersonation

I guess "The Eye" is not opened to upholding any integrity and honesty.

We all know CBS has already tarnished itself with their utter hypocrisy in regards to what they feel is a proper ad for the Super Bowl. Their choice to break their previous non-advocacy rules (and alter them later) for Tebow and Focus on the Family but choose to be concerned about TEH Gays and their banning on their ad has received growing negative attention as the NFL's ultimate contest approaches.

And the castigation against their dishonest ways may continue to rise with how they have actually helped Focus on the Family in shaping their ad.

Journalism ethics be damned:
According to a report in The Daily Beast, CBS worked for months with Focus on the Family developing the anti-choice ad's script featuring college football star Tim Tebow which the network ultimately approved (surprise, surprise):

The major broadcast networks have avoided political advocacy ads for years, so CBS's decision to air the Tebow ad caught abortion rights advocates off guard. But Focus on the Family, the Colorado Springs-based conservative Christian group founded by Dr. James Dobson, says that it has actually been working closely with CBS executives for months on the ad's script.

"There were discussions about the specific wording of the spot," said Gary Schneeberger, spokesperson for Focus on the Family. "And we came to a compromise. To an agreement." Schneeberger declined to comment on exactly how CBS changed the ad's message.

CBS has said that in the last year, in an acknowledgment of "industry norms," it loosened previous restrictions on advocacy advertisements, accepting ads that pushed for health reform and environmental activism.
Once again, we have a major network selling its objectively away to support an advocate group.

Now you could imagine the outrage from the nutty Right if CBS was collaborating an ad idea with Planned Parenthood or MoveOn. But obvious silence from that side is to be expected on this (unless its outrage at groups "attacking" the "virtuous" Tebow).

But back to CBS. They might as well just come and say,"Our real policy is to help out anything right wing and we just don't want advocating for ruining normal trends for our audiences, or the other networks will wonder about us."

Because any other excuse for this abandoning of journalism behaviour for them will be a literal joke. Ed Murrow and Walt Cronkite roll in their graves once more.
