The 2nd Thread For 12/3/13: Really, You 'Moralists' Aren't Moral Enough

Image
Before I share my real thoughts on Charles Davis' sensational piece , let me take you back three years ago in my life, you want to read. I was one of those unpaid interns Davis talks about in that piece, as I was at Talking Points Memo. I saw and read that it would be unpaid, and I accepted that when Ben Frumin, who worked there at the time and was the internship director while being a top editor in the Manhattan office, talked to me about it. Now let me tell you this. It was a five day (excluding holidays) internship (Monday to Friday) from 8:30 AM to at least 5 PM for the minimum of three months. I started in November 2010 and really thought about leaving in January 2011 when MoveOn.org contacted me about a paid job position. Frumin, who is a class act of a person and who I always respected, demanded that I stayed at TPM for the second half of the unpaid internship and that I would at least be given a chance to write articles in my last month of the internship. Even wit...

The Friday Fun Thread For 8/20/10 (Special Edition): The End Of A (Blogging Era)

Image
One of the most synonymous bloggers in the rational news online era (the rise of the left blogopshere) has been the always delightful Amanda Terkel. One of many key figures as to why Think Progress has become one of the most powerful news sites on all the net, Ms. Terkel is just a person who, unless you are an Bill O'Liely creepy stalker lackey, is so likable for her assiduity and her warm personality. So news of her announcing her final day at Think Progress just a while ago is certainly something that came right out of the blue . Wherever Ms. Terkel goes to next, hopefully she'll continue being one of the premiere blogging reporters in all of the Internet land. Unless of course, that leads to the Television set as well. Until then, I am just as sadden as those at the Center for American Progress that she has to go. Because they sure know that she was just as special as, if not more than, her reporting. Much love to you Amanda. And from The Whole Delivery, God bl...

The 2nd Thread For 7/15/10: Hackio Embarrasses Itself Once More

Image
What a bunch of idiot Beltway hacks : Polls show most self-described liberals still strongly support Obama. But an elite group of commentators on the left — many of whom are unhappy with him and are rewarded with more attention by being critical of a fellow Democrat — has a disproportionate influence on perceptions. The liberal blogosphere grew in response to Bush. But it is still a movement marked by immaturity and impetuousness — unaccustomed to its own side holding power and the responsibilities and choices that come with that. So many liberals seem shocked and dismayed that Obama is governing as a self-protective politician first and a liberal second, even though that is also how he campaigned. The liberal blogs cheer the fact that Stan McCrystal’s scalp has been replaced with David Petreaus’s, even though both men are equally hawkish on Afghanistan, but barely clapped for the passage of health care. They treat the firing of a blogger from the Washington Post as an event of hi...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/28/09, Part 1: The More They Lose, They More They Are on Your Tube

Image
The best of TRONN for today: Think Progress , as always, has a great list of gems each and every day. And that is the case with this post, showing how there have been more Republican lawmakers than their Democratic counterparts discussing the stimulus bill on cable television by a two to one margin : Sadly, if there is one bright spot in this latest disproportional effort by the corporate media, it is another feather in your cap needed to combat the stupid myth of "liberal bias." That is especially the case with MSNBC here, where their numbers look more from what you expect at Fixed Propaganda (Fox News). Then again, I guess it is their hell bent attitude to make sure everything appears non-liberal outside of the Olbermann-Maddow block. TP also has a this heartwarming and sad post on how the two star child actors in the hit Slumdog Millionaire are still living in poverty ! It's so bad, that their parents are still waiting for payments, and one child's situation is ev...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/21/09

TRONN is back!!!! At Media Matters , Eric Boehlert shows again why he is someone that the traditional media is very scared of. Just take a look at how he craves up the media's shoddy reporting (and conservative misinformation dishonesty again)

The Rational Online News Network For 1/14/09

While I'm limited with posts for the next few days, let the others apart of TRONN fill your void for the whole news instead of just the television media. At the Daily Kos , DemFromCT talks about the House passing a bill to expand the Children’s Health Insurance Program . This bill, sadly, should have been passed a long time ago. But it was vetoed, by, well, you know who. And TPM's usual 100 Seconds of brilliance, including the ridiculous obsession over seeing Bernie Madoff getting out of his car today. And as I said before, there is much more news for you to get at the other sites about of TRONN. Just scroll down to the page, and you'll see. Peace.

Finally, It's Over; Burris To Be Seated

Image
Remember the "Top Photo" I had up this entire weekend? Well, I think my wish (and many others wish) has been granted. The saga finally ends. Roland Burris will not sound like a pompous ass anymore when he says "Senator Roland Burris" next time. Because he will actually be the Senator. Senate Democratic leaders today cleared the way for Roland Burris to be seated as a senator from Illinois, after his appointment by the state’s now impeached governor had turned into a weeklong spectacle shifting between the nation’s capital and the corruption scandal back in Illinois. Now, it’s likely that Mr. Burris, 71 and a former state attorney general, may be sworn in to the Senate as early as later this week in a ceremony presided over by Vice President Cheney. His seating will bring the Democratic Senate majority to 58, including two independents. No more ridiculous walks in the rain after being turned away. No more new information regarding the situation of the seat. No more ...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/12/09: "Waterboarding Isn't Torture"

Image
Highlights from TRONN today: Firedoglake's creator Jane Hamsher analyzes the continued stupidity of MSNBC's Joe Scarborough thinking that w aterboarding has reaped serious confessions from Khalik Mohammad and many other suspects. And the argument Scarborough has with Financial Times managing editor Chrstya Freeland, who usually stays status quo-ish with her punditry, is certainly must see. Jane also has this must read post examining this weird and rather ridiculous piece written in Newsweek . At Media Matters , they catch Sean Hannity doing what he does best : Being an idiot, liar, and incompetent fool: Fox News' Sean Hannity falsely claimed that President-elect Barack Obama's economic plan gives money to "people that don't pay any taxes," echoing the oft-repeated myth from the presidential campaign that Obama's proposed tax cuts would go to people who don't pay taxes. In fact, Obama has proposed giving the tax credit to "working families,...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/9/09

Image
On TRONN today. At The Kos , the video is up showing how Roland Burris lies like a seasoned politician. At Media Matters , Jamison Foser looks at the pitiful move by the conservative media to bring down FDR and his new deal plan. On Fox News, for example, Brit Hume insisted this week that "everybody agrees, I think, on both sides of the spectrum now, that the New Deal failed." Unless by "both sides of the spectrum," Hume means "far-right ideologues who have shows on Fox News and far-right ideologues who do not yet have shows on Fox News," he's overstating the consensus by a fair amount. Maybe pitiful is being so nice. As always, Think Progress has a plethora of quality reads for your day. From the worst Vice President ever lying again about no one in that shameful Administration foreseeing the economic crisis , to Bush likely to get little for his post-Presidency lectures . And in the middle of all this news, watch this comment from Nancy Pelosi w i...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/7/09 (Updated With Think Progress)

Image
Today on TRONN: At Media Matters , they probably were throwing up after having to watch and embed to their website the interview Matt Lauer had with the nutjob that is Ann Coulter today: Also, they had to sadly report how a fool in the Los Angeles Times didn't retract how he painted Harry Reid a racist for not originally supporting Roland Burris into the Senate. At 538 , Nate Sliver gives a justified defense for Harry Reid and Senate Democrats over the Burris situation. Yes, really, he does. At Firedoglake , Jane Hamsher just doesn't understand why Harry Reid hopes Ted Stevens doesn't want to go to jail, and she hit the nail on the head when she said this: Does Reid have any respect for the law , or is it all about Senate entitlement? And after having thrown a huge public hissy fit about not being able to seat Roland Burris because Blago is such a crook the taint would be unbearable (words he will at any moment have to eat), this is the moment he chooses to come to the def...

The Rational Online News Network For 1/6/09

Image
A look around our friends at these others sites that consist of The Rational Online News Network, and some of their content on this day. At TPM , their always fabulous 100 seconds: Also (and thankfully), Jed Bush will not run for the Senate in Florida. At Think Progress , they have video this morning of The Shurb saying that Donald Rumsfield did an "outstanding job" Think Progress also has several other goodies to read from today: from Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin's baby, quitting the job that Sarah Palin corruptly help him get to the lamest duck President even using taxpayer's dollars for his new security gate in his soon to be new Dallas home. At Firedoglake , Jane Hamsher gets a smile out of some of the "establishment" not pleased about Obama picking Leon Panetta for CIA, saying that the "intellectual left" has played a part in Obama choosing ideology over competence for the first time, as Chuck Todd so ridiculously stated toda...

The Rational Online News Network for 12/22/08

First, TPM's 100 Seconds, including this hilarious moment at 1:03 from CNN Second, another Republican idiot makes himself look like a, well, idiot after assuming that Barack Obama went out of the country. The President-elect, however, is in Hawaii. Last time I checked, Hawaii is part of the country: The silliness of saying Rahm Emmanuel is having 21 conversations with Blagojevich and his staff, when he only had one: And finally, via the Aptly titled "Vote For America" on the Daily Kos World, Al Franken is up 48 votes over Norm Coleman in the bitter, still ongoing Minnesota Senate race. Peace.

Gleen Greenwald on Bill Moyers: A Must See

One of the best legal minds, and premiere voices not only on the Rational Online News Network, but also, in general, along with arguably the best journalist in the country (and someone the networks don't want part of.) Watch this classic from last night's edition of Bill Moyers' Journal, with Gleen Greenwald. It focuses really on how poor of a job the media in this country did in the buildup towards Iraq, as well as, in general: Part 1: Part 2: Part 3:
