10/2/08- TWD's Agenda for the Day: The Landslide is Forming; Cubs Don't Blow It; Rays, Enjoy It

The polls sometimes don't lie. And thankfully, that seems to be the case right now (although we can never be too sure with these news organizations).

The momentum of this election is shifting, and the ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden are on the verge of a landslide of things continue on their current form. And this turn of events, from a neck and neck race ("The polls are getting tight" was the tired cliche phrase you heard for the last three months) to now, isn't even primarily because of them. As we have highlighted all week, conservatives from the sad sight that is the John McCain/Sarah Plain ticket to right wing talking heads blaming Blacks and Latinos for the economy's horrible state that their corrupt policies have put us in, this is turning uglier and uglier as the lead grows wider and wider because of the SOP's obnoxious ways starting to fully be on display.

And even both welcoming and alarming at the same time is the fact that the polls and the negative demeanor of this campaign season probably won't level off. In fact, as the Republican party gets more desperate, they will release extreme ad's such as this one, with thanks to TPM for their usual excellence.

If you need proof of these polls, here's a quick run through, besides the CBS poll showing Obama up 50-41:
• Gallup: Obama 48%, McCain 43%, with a ±2% margin of error, compared to a 48%-44% Obama lead yesterday.

• Rasmussen: Obama 51%, McCain 44%, with a ±2% margin of error, compared to a 51%-45% Obama lead yesterday.

• Hotline/Diageo: Obama 47%, McCain 42%, with a ±3.2% margin of error, unchanged from yesterday.

• Research 2000: Obama 51%, McCain 40%, with a ±3% margin of error, compared to a 51%-41% Obama lead yesterday..

And that is just the national polls. It gets better or worse, depending on your perspective, with the battleground state polls, outside of a poor outliner for Virginia from a random polling group called (and get this name), "Mason-Dixon." Talk about a comforting name, much? It looks even worse above the CNN poll for the same state if you check the link.
In Missouri: Obama (D) 51%, McCain (R) 41% from PPP
In North Carolina: Obama (D) 50%, McCain (R) 47% from Rasmussen
In Florida: Obama (D) 51%, McCain (R) 47% from CNN
In Pennsylvania: Obama (D) 54%, McCain 39% from Quinnipiac

Once again, for those who don't believe it, the blowout is forming. And if Obama/Biden don't make any little mistakes (though they may not even be even mistakes) that media can't even push, then expect even the WORST from the McSad, Palin, and the rest of the Republican party. Because if you thought what they have done so far has been egregious, pathetic, and downright disgusting, which it has been, then you have seen anything yet.

Because desperate times call for desperate measures.

That is certainly the case also for the Chicago Cubs, who need an ace performance day from Carlos Zambrano to not fall the unenviable two games to none down scenario that the Los Angeles Dodgers will try to place them in. On the other side of the spectrum (for now) is the Tampa Bay Rays, who are about to embark on their first playoff game today against the Chicago White Sox in what should be a riveting series. The Sox may have the momentum, as highlighted with their AL Central "do or die" title death match win over the Twins on Tuesday. But the Rays will certainly try and continue their magic season, as James Shields will be looked upon to get their first October campaign started off right. And will CC Sabathia continue his amazing run and help the Brewers not fall two games to none behind the Phillies?

The Pending Schedule, as always, will be located in the comments section. Busy night tonight here at TWD, with the VP debate that certainly should be something to watch, as well as all the three baseball games mentioned in the preceding paragraph.

For now, Sha-la.

UPDATE: McCain is pulling out of MICHIGAN! This is massive news, and thanks to the great Hope Reborn at the Kos for this one.
John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.

McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states.
