The Scariest Speech Ever To Kids

Image
Oh nooooooooooz The President: Hello everyone – how’s everybody doing today? I’m here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And we’ve got students tuning in from all across America, kindergarten through twelfth grade. I’m glad you all could join us today. I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day in a new school, so it’s understandable if you’re a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now, with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade you’re in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer, and you could’ve stayed in bed just a little longer this morning. I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived in Indonesia for a few years, and my mother didn’t have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself,...

A Cornucopia Of Realism in Cairo Today: Will It Continue?

Only the irrational and crazy can criticize another captivating display of stagecraft and statesmanship today from Barack Obama in Cairo. The highlights for most people today in this speech loaded with many of them was the embracing of Islam culture, but more so for me was two other areas: 1) His continued drive for a two state solution, a position that has of course angered the childish radicals favoring Netanyahu and the Likud party. 2)And his reuse of the word "torture" in regards to condemning the last Administration's illegal practices. Point number one is simple, and Greg Sargent reported on one U.S. Jewish Congressman who is very happy with the direction that Obama is going in . In an interview with me, Dem Rep Robert Wexler, a leading voice in Congress on Israeli-Arab affairs, made a fascinating point, arguing that one of the most important lines in Obama’s Cairo speech was this one: “America will align our policies with those who pursue peace, and we will say in...

In Obama's Possible Last Speech As a Senator, Another Memorable Speech Was Witnessed

Image
If this was Barack Obama's last speech as a regular citizen in the United States of America today, then he certainly closed it out in the spectacular and inspiring fashion that has become a trademark custom of his legendary monologues. Make no mistake, this speech today was just as great as the ones in Denver in late August, Lansing in July, St.Paul in June, Philadelphia in March, Iowa in January, Boston four years ago, and all in between. It highlighted the problems of America, but most importantly, focused on how those problems in the past have not stopped the people of this great nation (and may I even say citizens of this world) from getting back up after being so down. And honestly, I have even done this speech a disservice by just having a seven minute version of it. The transcript is here for all to see , but let the sentiments of this post from this author continue. In this seven minute segment of a memorable speech, Obama's preaches again the unity of not only this co...
