The Flashback Fridays #1 For 9/16/16: Jay-Z - Izzo (2016)

Image
15 years ago at this time, Jay-Z was definitely thinking about how his album sales for the quickly released "The Blueprint" would be in wake of the 9/11 attacks. The first single from that iconic album dropping at the time was "Izzo," filmed out in Los Angeles and at the height of him, Dame and Biggs being all good with each other. From 2001, it's Jay-Z with "Izzo," your first Flashback Friday choice of this week. Jay-Z - Izzo by BLACKHAWKS4 Stay tuned, there is more from The Whole Delivery to come.

The Friday Fun Thread For 12/7/12: Cooler Than Even Hov (First Version)

Image
It's The revamped Friday Fun Thread, at a reasonably good time this week, meaning time for Rebecca Black! And the star of the Fun Thread this week is the wonderful Ellen Grossman, who sat down with Marc yesterday at HPL to talk about her chat with Jay-Z and not knowing who he was on our local R-train here in Brooklyn. More to come in the Friday Fun Thread at The Whole Delivery, stay tuned....

The Sleep Time And Rise"n" Shine Thread For 9/14-15/10: Music Thread For 9/14/10

Video of Mr. Carter and Eminem dominating at Yankees Stadium is a plenty from last night and tonight, including this one: Half the people didn't even know "Renegade." Yeah, "Runaway" won't be your average viewing . News if you care on Rush Blowbaugh's 800th weeding singer . Weezer is old now . And spaking of elderly, Ice Cube needs to just stop now and stick to the acting. And since this is a Sleep Time/Rise "n" Shine Thread, let's bring in Tevin:

The 2nd Thread For 8/11/10: It's Why No One Loves Them

Image
These people are both insane and really stupid : An Internet spoof version of "Empire State of Mind" that relocates the song to the South Wales city of Newport has been pulled from YouTube. The video and reworked version of the song, "Newport (Ymerodraeth State of Mind)," has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times since it became a viral hit last month. The parody of the duet by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys was filmed by M-J Delaney and features rapper Alex Warren and singer Terema Wainwright. The Welsh take on the song got huge media coverage in the U.K. However, EMI Music Publishing moved to get the song taken down from YouTube. The publisher represents four of the seven writers on the song. "When a song is created based wholly on any of our writers' works, those writers need to grant their permission," said an EMI Music Publishing statement. "If that permission isn't granted, then we ask the service in question to remove the song....

Music Thread #1 For 5/24/10: Jay-Z Signs Lil Kim To Roc Nation.......Huh????

Image
Um, why??? According to various sources, rapper Lil Kim has become the latest artist to join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reported the news of Lil Kim’s signing over the weekend. Perez also revealed that Jay-Z will be producing her next album. “Although she's seen better days, Lil Kim is ready to make a musical comeback,” said Perez on his blog, PerezHilton.com. “The rapper officially signed a record deal with Roc Nation. Jay-Z is even expected to produce her next album.” Unless it's getting enamored with what Nicki Minaj is doing, which is really nothing in my mind, then I frankly don't see the reason to even sign someone who is just pure old news. But hey, Nicki Minaj is the clone defective version of her, so......yeah. Thank Me Later will not be released yet and this will already be the album's third single , with the incarcerated Dwayne Carter on it. Yeah, you probably were expecting Miley Cirus and Lil Jon to do a song together....

The Break #3 For 5/12/10: September 12 & 13 Is Jay-Z/Eminem Concert Dates

Image
And there you go : What could be better than New York's own Jay-Z playing the first concert at the new Yankee Stadium? How about fellow rap superstar Eminem alongside him? The two titans of the hip-hop world attended Wednesday night's New York-Detroit game at Comerica Park to announce they'd be playing at the Yankees' ballpark on Sept. 13. Eleven days earlier, though, Jay-Z will be back in the Motor City to play with Eminem at the latter's hometown ballpark, Comerica.

Music AM Wakeup Call For 4/6/10: The SSP- Granite State Of Mine (2010)

The parody that is getting so much attention that the Today show interviewed them on Sunday, here are New Hampshire's two greatest people ever. It's the SSP and their hilarious parody of Jay-Z and Aiicia Keys'"Empire State Of Mind." Your hilarious morning wakeup call for the day:

Music Thread #1 For 2/22/10: Is Jay-Z Involved In Possible Paterson Problems: Not A Good Day For Travis Barker

The runthrough : An interesting case is brewing, as Jay-Z seems to be indirectly apart of the growing headaches that David Paterson is dealing with . Jay-Z’s relationship with NY Governor David Paterson is one of the points of interest in a federal investigation into AEG’s multi-billion dollar deal for the Aqueduct Race Track racino. The issue revolves around whether the bid selection process was unethical. Questions have arose following AEG’s successful bid since they courted Jay-Z, a good friend of Gov. Paterson, several months before the racino selection was completed. Last month, Governor Patterson awarded AEG (Aqueduct Entertainment Group) with the contract to upgrade the existing Aqueduct Race Track venue, the only one located within the New York City limits. Expect more on this story as time goes on. For your rare American Idol weekly news to be highlighted here, Simon Cowell seems to prefer Perez Hilton over Howard Stern . I can sure bet that despite how painful your...

Music Thread #1 For 2/16/10: The Runthrough

Jay-Z explains why he wasn't on the disaster that was the " We Are The World" remake : The instrumentally deft Diane Birch is opening for Nick Jonas , though beyond that, not most including myself know a lot about her. Drake's first single off of "Thank Me Later" will be "Over". And the album certainly won't be releasing in March, that's for sure . John Mayer is receiving support for his stupidity last week not only from a charity he has supported, but also from....... porn producers . Scott Storch's home was final sold....and it was given to the Rockstar energy drink maker . And good for Kardinal Official carrying the Olympic Torch on Friday:

Music Thread #1 For 1/4/10: The Runthrough

First music thread of the new year, and as always, it is a runthrough on Monday. This dropped on New Year's Day. Another black and white video from him. ANOTHER.................... ONE MTV, still sometimes acting as a music source, gives their album previews to look for in 2010 . They are doing better than their album at last for New Year's . Oh dear Bow Wow . And did I mention how Susan Boyle was the story of music last year ?

Music AM Wakeup Thread For 12/22/09: Jay-Z Forever Young

New video....he loves these black and white videos.

Music Thread #1 For 11/30/09: The Runthrough

Yeah, like Chris Brown really needs to have a fight with Jay-Z (and more a little later on other things Mr. Shawn has to deal with in this thread.) Oh man, now Wyclef is starting to believe the rumors that deep down, he doesn't believe in . Yeah, Adam Lambert is in the news . What else is new? Tisk tisk tisk, Giant Magazine is going bye bye . Guns n Roses are coming to South America . And No Beanie , I don't think Nas will waste his time with this. And Jay-Z won't ask him too. More to come.....

Music Thread #1 For 11/16/09: The Runthrough

The Congressional library will honor Paul McCartney . I still will be a little surprised if Jay-Z does respond to Beanie Sigel , especially with 50 Cent getting in on this. John Mayer has an album coming up : Snoop Dogg will be ringing the bell at the NYSE .

TWD's Song Of The Week: It Shouldn't Be Much Of A Surprise

And you will probably are tired of it outside of us New Yorkers.

Music Wakeup Call/Music Midday Energy Boost: Empire State of Mind

Because I sure couldn't think of anything else at this point, and the ball just needed to get moving.

Music Thread #1 For 11/2/09: "Empire State Of Mind" Video

Came out late Friday, but finally had a chance to see it today (as have most because of halloween weekend) Certainly one of the best videos of the year.

Music Thread #2 For 10/29/09:Beanie Sigel Disses Jay-Z

Shame you got to here Kay Slay's BS throughout tho.

Music Thread #1 For 10/29/09: The Runthrough

"This Is It" cashed in 2.2 million on its premiere night . Meanwhile, MJ has made $72 million after his death . Joe Budden continues to score in the "lose" column . Shakira's time has past in my mind. Younger pop artists have basically taken over her own her lane in the game, and that single she has out right now just isn't generating anything. 50 Cent's album has leaked.....here is one link to the "Psycho" song from Eminem . And for that album, which has been planned way before even the rushed "Curtis" album, "Before I Self Destruct" isn't generating really any buzz at all. Quietly, Jay-Z and Black Eyed Peas albums went platinum last week, and both are over the 1.1 million threshold . Disappointing numbers for Mariah Carey though, and Whitney Houston will probably need a second single if she is to go platinum by year's end. And I guarantee you that this will be the worst rap album ever . This guy is not even good...
