The news that everyone knew a few weeks ago is official : The media mogul Oprah Winfrey will end her iconic daytime talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” in 2011 as she prepares to start a cable channel of her own. A spokeswoman for Ms. Winfrey’s production company confirmed Thursday evening that Ms. Winfrey will make the announcement on her program on Friday. The plans were first reported by WABC, the ABC affiliate in New York City. “The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011,” WABC said. Fill that time spot Ellen....don't let that Wasilla Quitter fill it up.

May Tyra and Dr.Phil jump for joy..... for the moment : hey say that Discovery Communications chief David Zaslav has demanded that Oprah "move it or lose it" -- move her talk show to OWN, or risk losing the Oprah Winfrey Network altogether. I've learned that in coming days Winfrey and Discovery will issue a press release announcing OWN's on-air launch for the start of 2011. And, in several weeks, Oprah will tell the public that she's ending her syndicated Chicago-based daytime talk show when her current deal runs out and moving it to OWN headquarters in Los Angeles probably as soon as mid-2011. Hardest hit by the news will be CBS Television Distribution which syndicates the show, Also hit will be ABC's owned-and-operated stations which make up Oprah's core station group, and also Sony TV execs who'd been hoping Oprah would deliver any extension of her daytime talker into their hands based on the success they've had this season syndicating Dr Oz, Ha...

This situation has been so unsetting , and it is says something about not just Alicia Keys, but Swiss Beats himself. If you love another person more than your current spouse, at least have the dignity and honesty to just tell that person you are technically with that you love someone else. It's just as simple as that. And though I wish she made a public letter to Swiss Beats' infidel behind more than to Alicia Keys, Mashonda has been classy here in this whole situation. She hasn't gone running to a Viacom network despite this cheating going on for a while. Let's hope that says the same. Amazingly enough, despite this going on for a while, this Keys-Beats relationship has only gone semi-mainstream in the urban world, not mainstream throughout on say, Perez Hilton or TMZ. And Alicia Keys is of course a big name playe...

VH1’s Hip Hop Honors don’t air until Tuesday, October 13th at 9 p.m. EST/PST, but Rolling Stone was at the big event at Brooklyn’s Howard Gilman Opera House last night. At the sixth annual Honors, a cavalcade of stars paid tribute to Def Jam Records, the mainstay that laid the blueprint for the rap industry and launched the careers of everyone from Public Enemy to Kanye West. The room was packed to the gills with Def Jam friends, family and alumni — it’d actually be easier just to name who wasn’t there (notably: Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, LL Cool J and the recovering Beastie Boys). Beyonce is toning down her much criticized concert in Malaysia . Still don't think politics matter in music? By the way, back to the hip hop honors event, shame that this happened when both of them are virtually irrelevant now . But good that it happened. Stephon Marbury is now demanding that Jay-Z apologies to him . Marbury just gets sadder...
