12/3/08-TWD's Agenda For The Day: The Quick Runthrough

Image
Photo from the AP's John Bazemore Late start to the day for me, which has been the case thanks to school stuff as always. As we all know by now, the smear master, Saxby Chambliss, held his Senate seat with ease last night, thumping Jim Martin as turnout was terrible in Georgia last night. In today's Daily Kos Midday News Thread , the 43rd President is blaming the 41st one. Bush Jr. is now blaming his father for the nation's economic ills. Those guys crack me up when they talk about "personal responsibility". Obama announces Richardson as Commerce secretary , as long, long expected. Read this about the controversy over the salary of the new Secretary of State , Hilary Clinton. (Though it's not "OMG" news though.) This administration still won't label their pathetic job with the economy, a "recession." In sports, and I will talk more about this later, Antonio Pierce isn't out of the woods yet in regards to hiding the gun of Plaxci...

12/2/08-TWD's Agenda For The Day: Martin And Chambliss Battle In Reelection For Crucial Georgia Senate Seat

(Jim Martin photo from Erik S. Lesser for The New York Times;Saxby Chambliss photo from senate.gov) In Election 2008's version of overtime (and playoffs, something that the corrupt bigwigs in college football don't want any part of ), it is "Do or Die" with the Georgia Senate seat race between classless incumbent Saxby Chambliss and his Democratic challenger, Jim Martin. As noted yesterday by everyone, Mike Wooten life ruiner Sarah Palin stumped for Chambliss yesterday, repeating almost what she said for John McCain: Yet despite Palin’s insistence on the importance of the Chambliss race, she apparently couldn’t bring herself to write a new stump speech. Instead, she recycled many of her favorite lines from this fall, substituting Chambliss’ name for Sen. John McCain’s: Palin On Washington: On CHAMBLISS: Too many politicians forgetting why they were sent to Washington. Well, Saxby has not forgotten and he has not forgotten who it is that he is serving. He is serving y...

11/19/08-TWD's Agenda For The Day: Palin Chances At A Senate Seat Vanish With Begich Win Over Disgraced Stevens In Alaska; Plus More

Image
Photo from adn.com Well, Sarah Palin's possible hopes at a Senate seat in 2010 ended last night, as Anchorage mayor Mark Begich defeated convicted felon Ted Stevens in their endless election battle . Begich, the Democratic mayor of Anchorage, widened his lead to 3,724 votes in Tuesday's count of absentee and questioned ballots. The lead is insurmountable, as the only votes left to count are approximately 2,500 ballots from overseas. The Senator-elect comments after hearing the official news of victory: Begich claimed victory, saying, "I am humbled and honored to serve Alaska in the U.S. Senate." Talk about an ironic, peculiar birthday present for the 85 year old curmudgeon Stevens. He was saved the embarrassment of getting rejected by his Republican colleagues and thrown out for good thanks to Begich's victory. So him losing the debate wasn't the worst loss he could have suffered. Then again, to many people's eyes, he is already a loser. With Begich's...
