Good stuff: The story of the weekend was this......how could you Baskin Robbins ! Baskin-Robbins turned 65 and announced that it would retire -- five flavors of ice cream that is: It's sending Caramel Praline Cheesecake, Campfire S'mores, Apple Pie a La Mode, Superfudge Truffle and French Vanilla to the "deep freeze." It's the first time the company has ever retired five flavors at once. And French Vanilla, what a stunner and thensome. What a stunner.

Your company that everyone knows, with a product that everyone knows, and a problem that everyone knows (and for those who have it, have that exact problem ) is in a situation that is "just blown out of proportion!" My goodness Steve, all this attention on you and how your new product that you knew had a big problem is all just unnecessary and annoying. I guess people writing that you granted everyone receive free cases/bumpers or a refund for your royal screw up is just one big "blown out of proportion" deal as well. In the wake of Consumer Reports announcing that it would not be recommending the iPhone 4 due to the much-discussed antenna problems, there have been calls for Apple to recall the device. While a recall could be damaging to Apple's reputation, it would also be a costly endeavor, according to some calculations made by Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi. In a research note on Tuesday, Sacconaghi estimated that while "a full product recall of the iPhone 4 (is) highly unlikely," it would cost Apple $1.5 billion, or 3.5 percent of its total cash on hand. What would be more likely--and cheaper--is that Apple could issue a free rubber bumper case with each phone. That would prevent a person's hand from coming into contact with the phone's antenna, which is built into its exterior metal strip. It was speculative before given the lack of independent confirmation, but now apparently Apple has gone on record to confirm that the original deal signed with AT&T for iPhone exclusivity back in 2007 was a five-year deal. That means at least some legal hoops would need jumping through if we’re ever going to see that oft-rumored Verizon iPhone before 2012. Engadget reports that court documents filed by Apple in a California class-action suit confirm the original AT&T exclusivity deal had a five-year duration. The suit, ongoing since 2007, claims that Apple and AT&T were exerting a monopoly over iPhone service by surreptitiously locking iPhone buyers into renewing contracts with AT&T once their initial two years was up. On the flip side, there are a number of reasons such a contract might be amended or canceled, so it’s not exactly a total given that the iPhone won’t appear on another carrier before 2012.
