Hero One Week, Scaredy Cat Zero The Next

Weiner's letter to Bloomberg after his fine actions on Tuesday with no purpose of tackling the real issue . Sargent puts it right into perspective : Weiner "honors" Bloomberg for taking a "powerful" stance, without endorsing the sentiment that made Bloomberg's position so powerful. * Indeed, Weiner seemed to play both sides, suggesting it's legit to probe the financing of the mosque, the stance of the project's critics. And especially when bigot nutcase Senators show their full cards on this issue , a strong response from a man that is being held as this supposed strong liberal Democratic hero is certainly needed instead of cowardice. This normally cool Brooklyn guy is surely representing his last name well right now. I guess it's the pressure AIPAC can put on him at anytime I guess.

That's Weiner for you:

Add Weiner To The List Of Dem Targets

Though he didn't get a brick through at his office, this is still so very chilling : Law enforcement officials say a package with white powder was sent to Congressman Weiner's Queens office today. A preliminary review shows the letter in part complained about the historic health care legislation passed by Congress this week, according to the source. NYPD and FBI spokesman are only confirming that they are responding to the scene. The package sent to Weiner's office may be the latest in a series of threats directed against Democratic Congress members who voted to overhaul the U.S. health care system. I think it's becoming quite time when President Obama may need to address this situation.

Yesterday's Leftovers Bumped To 3/17/10: Even The Best Ones Can Be Painfully Wrong

Everybody in the rational online community doesn't need to be reminded of how awesome Anthony Weiner is. And the fact that he represents Brooklyn (though not my district, as Ed Towns represents it) is further admiration for the Congressman. Until further notice, he will remain one of the few public officials that I can confidently call "a public official" instead of a politician. In short, more people like Anthony Weiner would certainly be a benefit to our government, no question about that. But there comes a time when that usually terrific Congressional figure you respect and appreciate a lot is so wrong on an issue that you can't let favoritism block you from criticizing him or her. And that is the moment I'm presented with here in regards to Congressmen Weiner. He said this earlier today, with full conviction : New York Rep. Anthony Weiner is adding his voice to the criticism of the White House's response to an ill-timed Israeli construction decisio...

Conflicting Democratic Perspective On Health Reform Passage If Coakley Lose

The health of the health reform bill if Coakley losses tonight has produced a few strong feelings from prominent or renowned Democrats on the fate of health care. To my mind, only Anthony Weiner has been the one to declare the bill's chances of passage "maybe dead" if the Massachusetts Attorney General losses. Everyone else however, from Nancy Pelosi to Alan Grayson, has said that health reform will still pass regardless of tonight's result. Now what type of health reform bill, or model of health reform bill, will pass is a whole different ball game. Weiner said that he would have a hard time passing the Senate bill as the final bill overall. And if he says that, than there is a justified belief that House progressive/liberal figures won't help the push for 218 for a much maligned bill (despite always the tendency of them founding to the pressure of the times). That belief is further raised if the antiturst exemption and national exchanges aren't given...

The Daily Open Thread For 10/6/09: Just To Make Sure, I'll Do It Again

The Orly Tatiz of health care lady just will not leave. Thankfully, Anthony Weiner handled her nuttiness and lies not just once , but twice (with the help of Dylan Ratigan the second time): First, from last night : And then, this morning: Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy It this doesn't make her go away now......I don't even think single payer would. And get this, after Ratigan exposed her nuttiness "You are a disgrace to journalism," McCaughey told Ratigan, according to a source on the set. "You were a great guest, except that we usually want answers to our questions," he responded. He should have responded, "And you're a disgrace to sanity."

Once Again, Maria Bartiromo Likes To Make Herself Look Stupid

Yet again, just like this time two weeks ago with Matt Taibbi , CNBC's number one public shill embarrasses herself again with her arrogance making her look stupid. This time, it's with Anthony Weiner, watch her make herself a total idiot: Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy She asks Weiner, who going to turn 45 this week, "Why aren't you on Medicare?" She asks him that question after she did her usual "can't trust government stick." She was already one of the bigger dishonest shills in news television already. Now she is making herself one of news TV's total idiots as well.

Again, Anthony Weiner Is The Star Of The Day, Smacks Down Scarborough By Leaving Him Speechless

Oh this was so enjoyable to watch.

Weiner: "The President Has To Lead On This."

No one needed to tell Bush that he needed to lead on Iraq's lies. No one needed to tell Shrub that he had to lead on Social Security lies. No one needed to tell the worst President ever, Mr. 27%, that he needed to lead on FISA. That' s one thing that Bush did well, though Cheney did it for him of course. Can you imagine anyone in the House that was a Republican telling Bush he needed to lead on an issue for them? You know the answer to that, I shouldn't have even offended your intelligence and your time with that one. Today, I have talked to some who feel that Organizing for America is fighting for a public option. I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that fully until I see a change in the way things are being done in the Senate. Some are giving Obama cover, that he is resorting the sense of democracy and the branches of government by letting the Senate and House craft their bills. That is all fine and dandy. And that is how it technically should ALWAYS be . It'...

7/31/09: TWD's Agenda For This Friday: Anthony Weiner's Genius Move

Anthony Weiner, who I'm so happy he represents Brooklyn, did one of the more intelligent displays yesterday I have ever seen in terms of smacking down those who want to abolish Medicare. In a smackdown of such epic proportions that I thank the high heavens that Rachel Maddow had him on her show last night, Weiner was just brilliant in challenging the Republican idiots who slam Medicare in yesterday's "Energy & Commerce" committee meeting. And I'm shocked that it hasn't received the attention it has deserved, even on The Rational Online News Network (liberal blogosphere). On "TRSS" last night: And here is Weiner's genius move on display "Put up or shut up." Oh, it was a royal ass whipping that you just don't see from many Democrats, and man, it should get out to all of us. I'm shocked Rachel didn't even play it up or be even giddier, because it was such a "G" move, that even Gatorade couldn't comprehend it....
