The Flashback Fridays #2 For 8/18/17: SWV - Right Here (1992) (25th Year Anniversary)

Image
Sunday will be the 25th anniversary of the Teddy Riley produced "Right Here" for SWV, and the debut single for the classic early 90s R&B group. Now though the remix, sampling Michael Jackson timeless "Human Nature" hit produced by Quincy Jones, was the better song and had much bigger success, this was the introduction of SWV to the world. The rest is history. So, you're second Flashback Friday selection, it's the 25th anniversary of SWV's "Right Here." This is The Whole Delivery.

The Flashback Fridays #1 For 9/16/16: Jay-Z - Izzo (2016)

Image
15 years ago at this time, Jay-Z was definitely thinking about how his album sales for the quickly released "The Blueprint" would be in wake of the 9/11 attacks. The first single from that iconic album dropping at the time was "Izzo," filmed out in Los Angeles and at the height of him, Dame and Biggs being all good with each other. From 2001, it's Jay-Z with "Izzo," your first Flashback Friday choice of this week. Jay-Z - Izzo by BLACKHAWKS4 Stay tuned, there is more from The Whole Delivery to come.

The Flashback Fridays For 1/29/16: Missy Elliott - Work It (2002)

Image
Instead of how bad the new song she has out is, flashback to when Missy was at her true peak with flow and Timbaland beat selection. It's the classic from 14 years ago after the success of the "Miss E...SO Addictive" album.... From "Under Construction," it's lead single "Work It" from 2002 by one Missy Elliott. More to come at The Whole Delivery today, stay tuned.

The Flashback Fridays #1 For 4/19/14 (Special Edition 20th Anniversary of Illmatic): Nas - Halftime (1992/1994)

Image
Even before the album was released, at 18 in 1992 sir Nasir created "Halftime" with the drum Christmas snars in full effect from Large Professor's brilliance instrumental. It was the first single of his career and started it all, from the other nine tracks on the album to the career we see today. "You couldn't catch me in the streets without a ton of reefer/ That's like Malcolm X, catchin the Jungle Fever/" "Nas, Why did you do it?/ you know you got the mad fat fluid when you rhyme, it's halftime/" "These are the lyrics of a man, you can't near it, understand/Cause in the streets, I'm well know like the number man." "Puttin hits on 5-0/ Cause when it's my time to go, I wait for God wit the fo'-fo'/" So for those who still don't know, this is the first song of the career of Sir Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones. It's "Halftime", and it's needed video. More to come from Th...

The 2nd Thread For 11/15/13: Instant Gratitude To You, 4 U...All

Image
Yes folks, as most of you have seen, I am joining Pierre Omidyar's new news website, which will be coming very soon. It would not have been possible without Glenn Greenwald , who was the one who informed me to this novel venture. As you see the list of people joining this site, I have to thank Glenn again for being so immense for telling me this and offering me a chance at great fledgling place. I also want to thank Jeremy (Scahill) , who has been really terrific to me since meeting him in person in 2009. He is a really great person who does care for people, especially the downtrodden. The same goes for Liliana (Segura) , and though I haven't met sir Dan Froomkin in person , he has always been a major influence to me as well, just for what he has gone through in the wild world that is the Beltway media, centrist insanity. A major shoutout to Alex Iwashyna, Riebeil Durley-Petty, James Eddy and Janet Wu for writing for this small website, or blog, when you didn...

Because he still flows nice, and he didn't need 85 guests appearances on his album, but rather, just a few names.

TWD Election 2012 Aftermath's 1st Thread For 11/7/12: The Hilarious Anger of The Nuts And the Liars

Image
Oh it is glorious, and this is before even Pennsylvania was closed. O'Lielly was blowing a gasquet and fearing his American white world dominance was ending (And the silent disbelief on Megyn Kelly and Baier's face when O'Lielly said "the country" is changing" was hilarious): "People feel they are entitled to things, and which candidate is going to give them things." And you should all know what he meant by being entitled to things. He almost was on the verge of reverting back to his epic nutcase self, though he is always a nut: It really was quite fascinating and hilarious to see, but expected though. The Whole Delivery's election aftermath coverage will continue, as this day proceeds.

The Whole Delivery's Future

Image
Between being apart of the news website "The Raw Story" since August and just not having the overall time and opportunity to consistently update it as I once did, the future of The Whole Delivery is certainly in the balance. Again, I express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for those who have read this blog/news site since its inception in 2008. I really have tried to give this site its own panache with the variety of genres covered when it was fully active. But as of recent times, it has been rendered to a music nostalgia blog with "The Flashback Friday" series being the only constant post. Truthfully, I have no idea what this site's future will be, if I'm able to take it to higher heights. But if this represents one of the last posts for the blog, I pay full umbrage to you all who made this blog go as far as it did. To all readers, no matter who you are, religious or atheist, God Bless to you all. Sincerely, Andrew Jones The Whole Delivery...

Explaining The Whole Delivery's Absence

Image
As you have clearly noticed, The Whole Delivery has long been inactive the last few weeks. The reason for this dormancy in the site is simply because of my current economic situation (job status), along with thoughts of trying to re-design this page to be more aesthetically pleasing to the readers. I thank you all, especially the handful of people, still checking on whether this site has come back to life on a daily basis. And hopefully the ball will get back to rolling again.

The 1st Thread For 8/30/10: TWD Is Back!

Image
Inspired by the idea of the Twitter legend that is the Shoq one , it's an appropriate, deserved, and terrific birthday shout to one Rachel Maddow! Yeaaaaaaaaaah. Even if she is a criminal : It is her 37th birthday today. And it would be great to give her some love today if you can. She maybe an April Fools baby......but she is no fool for sure!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY To The Whole Delivery

Image
September 3, 2008 marks the official day of the Whole Delivery beginning and launching. Now previously, the Delivery had many posts before September 3, 2008. Especially in that month of August with the Bejing Olympics going on last year, there were many posts with the site, but the direction of the site wasn't figured out yet. But once the National Conventions of both parties ended, and senior year of school commenced, the direction of the site (or at least the basics) were figured out. I didn't just want to make this into a sappy blog about one person and all. That was never this website's intention, and it WILL NEVER be. And I like to make the distinction of saying the word "website" instead of " blog" for a reason. Yes, it is still in the blogger template and all, but the connotation on the word "blog" (unless you're one in the current condition of Duncan Black or John Amato to name a few, who have slaved in the dark days to be where th...
