It was a decent interview from Conor Friedersdorf with Jay Rosen about the new site that I am apart of , especially Jay further explaining how ridiculous the stubbornly centrist "View from Nowhere" is. Before I share my real thoughts on Charles Davis' sensational piece , let me take you back three years ago in my life, you want to read. I was one of those unpaid interns Davis talks about in that piece, as I was at Talking Points Memo. I saw and read that it would be unpaid, and I accepted that when Ben Frumin, who worked there at the time and was the internship director while being a top editor in the Manhattan office, talked to me about it. Now let me tell you this. It was a five day (excluding holidays) internship (Monday to Friday) from 8:30 AM to at least 5 PM for the minimum of three months. These people are both insane and really stupid : An Internet spoof version of "Empire State of Mind" that relocates the song to the South Wales city of Newport has been pulled from YouTube. The video and reworked version of the song, "Newport (Ymerodraeth State of Mind)," has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times since it became a viral hit last month. The parody of the duet by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys was filmed by M-J Delaney and features rapper Alex Warren and singer Terema Wainwright. The Welsh take on the song got huge media coverage in the U.K. However, EMI Music Publishing moved to get the song taken down from YouTube. The publisher represents four of the seven writers on the song. "When a song is created based wholly on any of our writers' works, those writers need to grant their permission," said an EMI Music Publishing statement. "If that permission isn't granted, then we ask the service in question to remove the song....
