Yesterday's Leftovers For 8/12/10: The "Entitled Left Media"
Feeling all happy and smug over Michael Bennet beating Andrew Romanoff, Jonathan Alter thought it was classy enough to send David Sirota this message yesterday on Twitter:
Obviously Sirota was angry from Atler rubbing the salt in the wounds out of nowhere yesterday, and you would be too now if someone from the "entitled left" performed the clown behavior that Atler was so proud to create yesterday.
Now as most know, Sirota can be a polarizing shaky figure some of the times. For every good article or column he writes, he can have a tendency to not look at the full picture sometimes and slant some things. He has been known to block a few people on Twitter when he argues with them. And those people aren't the conservative pyschos but a few rational people on technically his side.
But his heart really does care for the right things, and his diligence is something that should be respected for sure by everyone in the online community.
And he certainly holds much more clout for the base than the online blog hating, Villager's favorite liberal All-Star that is Alter, who is notorious for going the way the insider's wind blows on anything.
Maybe just as bad as Atler's childish display to Sirota is another "entitled left" moment from the usually obnoxious Jonathan Chait of The New Republic.
Chait, never one to stop and see how absurd his writings could be, took a shot at Markos yesterday about the new book "American Taliban" from the Daily Kos publisher. Just take a look at this:
Chait just looked at the title and summed up the topic without seeing any chance of Kos' book swaying his already perceived opinion on the topic. That's typical with that guy from time to time, exhibiting yet another example of the "Entitled Left."
These people like Chait and Atler act as if they are the alpha dogs of being "rationally liberal" and feel people like Kos and Sirota (and even you) are extremists who should just "Shut up" and be grateful for what they have.
"You have a self-created blog, and that's all you are all about, and you aren't as mentally stable as me." That's the persuasive attitude these individuals posses.
It's no wonder why the TNR doesn't have as much influence as other sites such as Dk on the base. And why Atler is just another reason why " Beltway journalists" are hated so much in America.
Acting like one is entitled is always a terrible life choice. But it's even worse when it comes from someone who wants to claim they fully represent "the best of the left" over what they deem as the "extremists."

More importantly, the comparison between the conservative movement and the Taliban is obscene. There are certainly tendencies on the American right that are less extreme versions of Talibanism -- intolerance toward religious minorities, an insistence of shaping public policy according to religious dogma, hostility to science that contradicts religious texts -- but the differences in degree are so vast that they are a difference in kind. But what makes Chait's assessment so stupid is the fact that.......he didn't even READ THE BOOK!
