The premiere of Hard Knocks on HBO tomorrow won't be happy one for Jets fans, thanks to Woody Johnson not being a smart guy and having his gut deliver a message to his big mouth about Darelle Revis sitting out the entire season.

Johnson was just dumb to make those comments public like that yesterday. I could understand (even if he is still wrong) if he kept that sentiment yesterday on Revis inside in his mind and gave Jeremy Schaap a simple "We're still talking and we hope we can strike a deal" line.

With the Revis hold out continuing, time in the spotlight is now for Kyle Wilson.

It truly is amazing how Percy Harvin has made it this far in that sport with so many migraines.

After three misses starts, Stephen Strasburg is back on the hill for the Nationals tonight against the Marlins.

It looks like Ilya Kovalchuk could still wind up with the Devils :
Lou Lamoriello, the Devils' president and general manager, issued the following statement.

"We have reviewed and respect Arbitrator Bloch's ruling in the Kovalchuk matter. We also note and appreciate his finding that nothing in his opinion should be read as suggesting that either the club or Ilya Kovalchuk operated in bad faith or on the basis of any assumption other than that the Standard Player Contract was fully compliant with the CBA. That has been our consistent position throughout.

"While we do not currently have a contract with Ilya Kovalchuk, discussions have resumed and we are hopeful that a contract will be reached that meets with the principles in Arbitrator Bloch's award and the NHL's approval."

The Devils can choose to re-work the contract in hopes of getting it approved, or Kovalchuk could look elsewhere. Los Angeles reportedly had an offer for 15 years and $80 million on the table before Kovalchuk agreed to re-sign with New Jersey.

Teemu Selanne is coming back for another year .

With Pepe out for the beginning of the season, Jose Mourinho moved in quick to get Ricardo Carvalho back on his side. The rest of La Liga might as well take the year off, for the title will only mattered with just "The Cassico" showdowns once more.

Sony Ericsson really isn't worth being a sponsor for the WTA Tour if it can't get the events that are the equivalent to the Masters (1,000) Series ATP events on TV (or live online streaming) from the start of the tournament.

Even more alarming is the fact that Cincinnati for the women and Canada next week will not start their TV (or online live streaming coverage) until Thursday of their respective weeks.

For our modern times and how big these events are, that is a pathetic joke.

Your first sport thread.
