Yupppie, More Mediocre Beltway Reporters Get Their Own Show

Image
It sure is a great day for BS Beltway insider journalism : NBC News’ Chuck Todd and Savannah Guthrie will anchor “The Daily Rundown,” MSNBC announced this morning. The program will be seen 9 to 10 a.m. weekdays on MSNBC and debut Jan. 11. Todd and Guthrie cover the White House, and the program will focus on politics. “We want this show to be a resource for viewers looking for political news and discussion, without the noise,” Todd said in a release. “It will be the place for viewers to get everything they need to know about what’s making news and what will make news.” Would be great if Todd could bring Jeremy Scahill on the show to talk about Afghanistan, Pakistan, and contractors like Blackwater. But I think this still haunts him, and probably, forever will: You know, so the show's reputation won't get sullied and all.

Cool to share a photo op with Jeremy Scahill , but I should have spread the level to Jamil and Lilana and Mr.Greenwald , oy.

It's Okay If It's Blackwater or KBR/Halliburton

But ACORN though......get the crosses out!!!!! Yeah, it's okay if you are illegal gutless whores instead of a (formerly) underfunded organization to still get funding and all from the government. Especially if Republicans are in charge. Last week's decision by Congress to to bar federal funding to ACORN was notable not only for the lopsided vote margins ( 83-7 in the Senate , 345-75 in the House ) but also because it revealed a rarely-seen zeal in Congress for holding federal contractors accountable. As my colleague Sue Sturgis reported last Friday, 23 of the very same House members who voted to strip ACORN of funding had opposed a measure to investigate scandal-plagued military contractor Blackwater , who had been implicated in killing 17 Iraqi civilians. But the House isn't alone. Many of the same Senators who voted to de-fund ACORN have also opposed Congressional efforts to tighten rules and hold federal contractors accountable. Case in point: In 2006, Sen. Byron Dorgan ...

The Daily Open Thread For 8/24/09: Jeremy Scahill Smackdown Of Chuck Todd

On Bill Maher on Friday, classic from this terrific journalist on a not so, status quo loving one. And get this from Glenn Greenwald about what Todd said to Scahill Right as we walked off stage, he said to me "that was a cheap shot." I said "what are you talking about?" and he said "you know it." I then said that I monitor msm coverage very closely and asked him what was not true that I said on the show. He then replied: "that's not the point. You sullied my reputation on TV." Like your reputation matters Todd? What a clown he is. More to come later....including today's many explosive headlines. There's plenty of them to come.
