The 2010 NBA Finals, Game 7 Thread (Sports Thread #5) For 7/17/10

Image
Will it be the Boston Celtics league record 18th franchise title, or will the Lakers make the rivalry between these two teams in the final be a record of 3-9 instead of 2-10? The keys right now to the ultimate game of the National Basketball association season. It's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The Keys Work For Perk By Powing Pau It's not just his 7 point, 7 rebound average that the Celtics will miss tonight from their injured center Kendrick Perkins . Gone from Doc Rivers' side is the stuff you don't see on the stat sheet. Weak side defending, clogging the lane, altering shots, and offering that key enforcer downlow that gave the Celtics the slight advantage in the paint, where the Lakers couldn't dominate them like they did their Western conference brethren through these playoffs. Rahseed Wallace and Glen Davis must facilitate Kevin Garnett on Pau Gasol tonight, as well as containing the order ailing center in this series, Andrew Bynum, from getting off down...

Thursday night.......will Perkins be back, and will Artest playing like he did tonight? Let the two day hype begin:

Sports Thread #2 For 6/10/10: 2010 NBA Finals Game 4, Lakers vs Celtics

Image
From NBA.com After the 1st quarter update: Paul Pierce has come to play tonight, and the referees are still.........the referees. 19-16 Celtics. And here's the Live Feed for now: Video chat rooms at Ustream 2nd half review : Despite the Celtics missing a lot of easy buckets and Kobe getting hot at the end, and Lamar Odom showing up and caring for another game, the Celtics are fortunate the find themselves only down by 3. Oh, and the officials are still having a forgettable series.

And we still are looking for Ray Allen's shot ......what a contrast from game one:

Sports Sunday Thread #5 For 6/6/10: Ray Trey Day- Celtics Even The Series At 1 All

Image
Photo from NBA.com He was able to stay on the court tonight and set a Finals record for 3-pointers instead of setting up fouls on his score card. But it was also Rajon Rondo, his back courtmate, who made the difference. Playing faster, controlled the tempo, the Celtic #9 was certainly proficient tonight. And he even hit a three pointer! This was the real Celtics tonight, and they exhibited the form that made people believe that they will win this series. The full review is here .

Sports Thread #3 For 6/4/10: Danny Ferry Is Gone From Cleveland

Image
Photo from AP Not his fault at all that he finally made the moves. But it surely was not enough for Dan Gilbert* in their quest to keep LeBron : Danny Ferry resigned Friday as general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers after five seasons. Ferry's departure comes two weeks after the club fired coach Mike Brown following the team's second-round loss to the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. The team said assistant GM Chris Grant will take over for Ferry, 43, who was in the final month of his contract. And that is what it is. * Update: Just caught this just now, before the great Peter Rothberg gave me the needed shoutout, and somehow wrote bench gunner Dan Gibson instead of owner Dan Gilbert. Goodness gracious indeed. Properly fixed.

Sports Thursday Thread #3/The Fun Thread #3 For 6/3/10: The Top 20 Plus 1 Other Things You Should Focus On In The 2010 NBA Finals

Kobe Bryant's Annoying Overdone Scrowl You all know the key stories lines? Can the Lakers beat the Celtics for only the 3rd time in 12 times in the Finals? Can the Celtics prove that with a healthy Kevin Garnett, they are still the best team in the league? Will Kobe make more people ask the absurd and flatout ridiculous question of "is he as good as .........Jordan"? But instead of the usual coverage that you will find at NBA.com, ESPN.com, SI.com, and everywhere else, here is a much lighter and more random look into the upcoming 2010 NBA Finals. It's the "20 plus 1" things to look forward to during the finals. 5 Simple Observations you will make immediately Pau Gasol's Wolfman "Badly Need A Haircut" Hairstyle. Goodness, from someone from Spain, he doesn't care about looking more "nappy" than suave. More so than even.......Paul Pierce! You'll Still Yearn For the Days of the "NBA on NBC" music." Mar...

The Fun Thread #2 For 6/3/10: Just To Get You Into Finals Spirit, Here's That Kobe Rapping Again!

It's just too memorable for the soul not to forever cherish: Forget ESPN or NBA TV, for this is the best pre-game warmup for another great final series between the Celtics and the Lakers.

They have some pride for themselves and the game of basketball again.

Sports Sunday Thread #3 For 5/23/10: Stoudamire Plays Like A Stud, Suns Save Their Season

Image
Photo from NBA.com/Getty Images Talk about a redemption game for Amare Stoudamire, as he just did it big tonight. But credit to Alvin Gentry, who used the zone effectively in the game. But obviously, you can only be effective in the zone if your opponent misses. Most importantly, with Stoudamire and Robin Lopez, they controlled the paint. But benches were dreadful in this game, so it makes Game 4 even more intriguing.

Sports Thread #2 For 5/19/10: Suns Make it Closer, But Lakers Protect Home Court Again

Suns defense has obviously got to be better if they want to have a chance in this series. But obviously, they played much better on offense, even though both Nash and Stoudamire have to play at their All-league levels.

Sports Thread #2 For 5/18/10: Magic Need A Houdini Act To Save Themselves

Sports Thread #2 For 5/17/10: Kobe & Lamar Show

They sent a message to the Suns obviously. But don't count the Suns out yet because of this game .

Sports Thread #1 For 5/14/10: It Starts And Ends With The Coaching

It's really facile and lazy for one to say "LeBron James choked again, LeBron James showed that he is overrated and will never be Jordan" comments that have certainly emanated from last night's latest and arguably most devastating blow to a Cleveland sports fans psyche. But anybody who has watched the Cavs the last two years, knows the NBA deeply, and isn't on their obsessive "Hate on LeBron just because I will hold him to the Jordan mantle" perspective will know full well that Mike Brown was the reason why the Cavaliers are not even advancing to the East Finals, let alone winning the title like they should have done this season. Now there were several factors causing the Cavaliers to succumb to the pressure and crash out to a Boston team, though fully restored to their championship pedigree best, should not have defeated them in this series. The play of Antawn Jamison, supposedly the #2 that LeBron needed to get over the top, was just simply atr...

To lose a Game 5 at home is already bad enough. To lose it by 32 points at home, after leading 29-21 in the first quarter.......rolls need to role tomorrow, or heads will really roll after Thursday if they lose.
