It's already established itself in the rest of the state .   Hope all my Oklahoma peeps, especially my aunt, will be safe down there.

Sports Saturday Thread #2 for 10/17/09: McCoy's Game Saving Tackle.....Yes, You Read Right, Gives Texas The Red River Win Again

Image
The biggest moment in this game, no question, came in the latter stages, when Colt McCoy threw an interception to the hands of Brian Jackson. The Oklahoma #2 was destined to go to the end zone to give Oklahoma the 19-16 lead, with only McCoy standing in his way. But that was the main problem, as McCoy made a game saving tackle, and possibly, a Big 12 and National Title tackle. You know the rest of the story . Sooner turnovers and Bradford injuries causing problems. Either way, another Red River classic.

Sports Thread #1 For 9/8/09: Disheartening News For Jermaine Gresham (Updated: It's Official, He's Out For The Rest Of The Season)

Image
Man, this sucks . The rest of the season remains up in the air for OU tight end Jermaine Gresham. Head coach Bob Stoops said today during his weekly press conference that Gresham will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to find out what kind of damage was done. Gresham was injured in a practice last week and did not play in OU's 14-13 loss to Brigham Young on Saturday. Gresham passed on millions for one extra year at winning the national title for his school. Now this injury makes that first round status tenuous at best. A royally shame for him and his family. Even the most ardent supporter of the Texas Longhorns will be feeling sad for him. Updated : ESPN how has made it official from their reporting. He is out for the rest of the year. A miserable two weeks for Sooner fans if there ever were.

Sports Thread #1 for 10/18/08: Big 12, SEC, And The Rest Of CFB Preview

(Photos from google.com) Colt Mccoy and Chase Daniel are apart of a great group of quarterbacks from the state of Texas taking over college football, and certainly, the Big 12 Conference It's another great Saturday today here not only on TWD, but in the world of CFB (College Football). Already, on another Thursday, we come into Saturday action with an upset occurring. BYU, who seriously had an outside chance to possibly get into the national title picture , blew it at TCU, as the 'Frogs ended their nation leading 16- game winning streak and chances of stunningly season ending glory. With BYU out of the picture, that opens the door for their bitter rivals, Utah, to reclaim their sovereignty over the Mountain West conference and return to the BCS for the first time since the days of Alex Smith and Urban Meyer. But our attention on TWD, with no disrespect to the other conferences, and to the great year so far from Penn State (who looks to give Joe Paterno another chance at a Natio...

10/11/08- TWD's Agenda for "Satur"Day (And Sports Thread #1)- CFB Showdown Saturday: Oklahoma vs. Texas

Image
Photo from ESPN.com Through their have been big games this year in college football so far, there hasn't been a week where a multiple of truly massive games has taken place (or with the premise coming into the weekend of major developments happening from a number of majorly hyped duels). Until today. Right now, and edited later, the Red River Rivalry is going on with Oklahoma in front early. The key to this game is how much pressure will Texas defense give the amazingly accurate Sam Bradford today. And so far, it seems like they haven't been able to rattle him thus far. Of course, the other big matchup is located, once again, in the semi-NFL division that is the SEC, as Florida looks for revenge against National Champ LSU in a game where the emotions are already flowing, thanks to Ricky Jean-Francois' stupid comments on taking Tim Tebow out. Funny enough, the talkie is out himself : LSU defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois, who earlier this week boasted of his teammates...
