The Flashback Fridays #2 for 8/28/15: Chris Brown feat Juelz Santana - Run It (2005)

Image
And just like his former flame , this clown came out in 2005 before he became a clown, and was just destined to be massive. He did become massive, not as we all know, in both the good and really bad ways that still persist today. With Juelz Santana and Scott Storch producing (talk about two careers that have hit a downward spiral), it's Chris Brown with his classic debut, "Run It." More to come from The Whole Delivery later today.

The 1st Thread/Music Wakeup Call For 4/7/14: Kid Ink ft Chris Brown - Show Me (2013)

Image
This track really is rising in these "urban" streets, where this DJ Mustard is becoming a top producer in the game (at 23) with the song for this. Kid Ink doesn't mess it up and provides the standout line of the song in the second verse. "My bad if my EX wants to fight you." You even forget sometimes that Chris Brown is on this track whit how smooth the beat is from Mustard, and it's really deserved its shine. Thankfully the video keeps it simple and works with the song. Your Music Wakeup Call for this day, it's Kid Ink ft Chris Brown for the DJ Mustard produced "Show Me." More to come at The Whole Delivery later, stay tuned.

Music Thread #1 For 12/17/09: For A Third Straight Week, Susan Boyle Blows Everyone Away

Image
Photo form Billboard The remarkable story continues : Susan Boyle remains atop the Billboard 200 chart for a third week with "I Dreamed a Dream," selling 582,000 copies (up 10%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. So far, "I Dreamed a Dream" has sold 1.8 million and is racing after Taylor Swift's "Fearless," currently the top selling album of 2009 with 2.7 million. Along with "Fearless," Boyle's "Dream" is just the second album to spend three weeks at No. 1 this year. Swift's album spent seven weeks at No. 1 in the 2009 calendar year, in addition to three weeks atop the chart in late 2008. And get this latest set of history from Boyle: "I Dreamed a Dream" is also just the eighth album to sell at least 500,000 copies in each of its first three weeks of release, since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. And, it's the only album by a woman to do so. The last set to charge through 500,000 in each of its first thr...

Music Thread #1 For 12/8/09: A Lot Of New Releases Today

Image
A lot of new releases today. Chris Brown's "Graffiti" is the notable one, and it will be interesting to see if he can top Rihanna's "so-so" first week sales (it looks to be the case, since they have the whole hash tag on it for Twitter). Randomly, out of nowhere, R. Kelly has an album being released today that I knew not a single deal about. On the rap front, three big releases today. As mentioned earlier in The Rise "n" Shine Thread , The Clipse are releasing their 4th album "Til The Casket Drops", while Snopp Dogg is going live on UStream all day today with the release of his latest album "Malice in Wonderland." And the re-incarcerated Gucci Mane has his highly anticipated (not for me, but for most I guess) album "The State vs Radric Davis." Timbaland is releasing "Shock Value II" as well today, through I have no idea why he is releasing that album after its first installment was poor and virtually neglect...

Music Thread #1 For 11/30/09: The Runthrough

Image
Yeah, like Chris Brown really needs to have a fight with Jay-Z (and more a little later on other things Mr. Shawn has to deal with in this thread.) Oh man, now Wyclef is starting to believe the rumors that deep down, he doesn't believe in . Yeah, Adam Lambert is in the news . What else is new? Tisk tisk tisk, Giant Magazine is going bye bye . Guns n Roses are coming to South America . And No Beanie , I don't think Nas will waste his time with this. And Jay-Z won't ask him too. More to come.....

Well, he's back. And no blue bow ties for him. And with that video, the info for his fourth album Well, I don't expect Rihanna to be on that album though. And neither on the other side with her forth coming album as well.

Music Thread #1 For 10/20/09: Your Non-Rihanna News Thread

Since you have gotten a dose of that and heard all the news by now. Can we please stop asking him this same DAMN question......they aren't going to have a reunion unless something drastic or major happens. And I don't see that coming So please, stop asking him the SAME DAMN question. Adam Labert and Lady Gaga get together......... in the studio . Um, when did Mya get on "Dancing With The Stars " this season? Give much love to the rapper Saigon...... his mother passed away . I did say this thread was non Rihanna news. Music Thread #1 for 8/3/09: The Full Runthrough, Including Jay-Z New Mehhhhh Album Cover

Image
Busy day today on the music thread. Here we go. The big story of the day is Jay-Z revealing his new cover for his Blueprint 3 album, dropping on 9/11 of all days, just like the first Blueprint installment eight years ago. This cover just makes me want to regurgitate, seriously. It is not only far from aesthetically pleasing, it is just flat out ugly and brutal to look at. The quality of a CD is never based off an album cover. I just hope the album is a total 180 difference from the cover. Though after the "We Run This" single, well, the signs are a little shaky. But it's Hov, so, I trust indeed in Mr.Carter. Larry King, the master of the Michael Jackson posthumous coverage, will now give Chris Brown a forum to apologize to the world again. Speaking of Brown, the other Mr.Carter had to show him some support apparently . When asked by MTV News for a comment about the performance, Weezy responded simply via e-mail through a rep: "U kno I had to show him sum luv." ...

Music Thread #1 for 7/22/09: Your Past Isn't An Excuse Chris Brown

Image
( Everyone, this post is from the latest writer at The Whole Delivery, her name is Janet Wu, and she is really damn cool. And she has her inaugural thread at TWD be today's first music thread. Enjoy it and you can follow her on Twitter here ) Sorry to sound cold-blooded with the quotes and all but Chris Brown public apology for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna seems a bit scripted. I mean does anyone else see him reading off the teleprompter? At least be sincere enough to place the teleprompter near the camera. Telling your fans “I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence” does not justify anything. Even if your fans are telling you its okay cause “she hit Chris first yall”. He’s just sorry his wallet is taking a hit.

Music Thread #1 for 6/24/09: The Perez-Will I Am War Continues; Chris Brown's Label Says He Didn't Release A New Single

Image
Photo from George Pimentel/ WireImage The War Continues Perez Hilton's lawyer wasn't kidding about those threats. The blogger has just sued Black Eyed Peas road manager Polo Molina for battery and infliction of emotional distress over an alleged incident at Sunday's MuchMusic Video Awards that left Hilton roughed up and distressed enough to post an expletive-laden video on his website. And here's what his lawyer said "Perez Hilton was assaulted by the Band’s road manager because he would not agree to stop writing about the Black Eyed Peas on his website Perezhiton.com. Perez Hilton files this lawsuit to protect his freedom of speech and seeks legal redress against those who have physically assaulted him because they do not like his review of their album. Whether you love Perez or hate him, he is entitled to his freedom of speech without fear of physical violence. This lawsuit will make the statement that violence is never the answer. His First Amendment rights wil...

Music Thread #2 for 6/22/09: The Chris Brown Case Is Over As Rihanna Pleads Assault

Image
Photo from the BBC Thank the HIGH HEAVENS this is over Singer Chris Brown has pleaded guilty in the US to one count of assault on his former girlfriend and fellow R&B star, Rihanna. Brown, 19, was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to do six months of community service. Brown had faced charges of assaulting Rihanna, 21, during a row in February. The last-minute plea deal came before a hearing at a Los Angeles court at which Rihanna was due to give evidence. She said the sentence was "fair". And in more silliness, Will. I .am had to respond to the attention obsessed Perez Hilton

Music Thread #1 for 6/22/09: Just A Few News Items

Image
From Jason LaVeris of FilmMagic This Adam Lambert dude is busy making moves . And he's working with Lady Gaga's producer apparently . There won't be any cameras allowed when Rihanna testifies in the Chris Brown case. Well, TV cameras that is, but your cell phone could be used in a sly manner possibly. DMC met with President Obama yesterday for Father's Day talk.

Music Thread #2 for 6/17/09: Lupe Fiasco Suffers Another Leak.......And He Isn't Happy About It, Again

Image
The quick runthrough It's probably good that the NBA Finals ended, because he won't get his trial delayed anymore You can understand Lupe's frustration . A lot of people were running right to Limewire in 2006 to download his whole album, and it hurt him. So I can understand why he was tight. But the leak wasn't the only reason Lupe didn't come close to platinum with Food and Liquor. It was the terrible decision to make "I Gotcha" the second single after "Kick Push", instead of making "Just Might Be Ok" the follow up to regenerate people buying that CD. That is the most costliest mistake of his career, in my view. And it hurt a lot. "Just Might Be Ok" had the potential, and still could be, to be a memorable video. But I doubt that will happen, unless I get in the game. Sting's next album "Winter" will be in the Fall. Yes, it may just be a rec center and not something educational. But Snopp is giving back, and tha...

Music Thread #2 for 6/10/09: He's Still Going To Court This Month

Image
Despite his attorney's best chances, Chris Brown will still have to go to court on June 22 Chris Brown lost a bid to delay a preliminary hearing in his assault case, which his attorney argued should wait for a related California Supreme Court decision. Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, filed an appeal earlier this month to try to delay the R&B singer's preliminary hearing, now scheduled for June 22. Court records show the appeal was rejected Tuesday; no reason was given. And I'm going to say this one more time....it's good to see Mos Def back and making quality music.

Music Thread #1 for 5/28/09: Eminem Sells 608K, Unknown If Nick Cannon Brought One Of The 6OOK

Image
No surprise despite an album where I heard is worse than his last "Mehhh" release "Encore". I guess that's what happens when you are 36 and still talk about drug problems and serial killers. Eminem's "Relapse" brings the rapper back to familiar ground -- the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. With 608,000 sold in its first week, it not only nets the biggest sales week of the year for any album, but the best since AC/DC's "Black Ice" began with 784,000 copies last October. And another example of CD's not being brought anymore compared to yesteryear: When "Encore" was released, it sold 711K. And remember how massive the Marshall Matthews LP was. 1.76 mill sold in the first seven days. Also in the album sails news, Meth and Red probably knew they weren't going to break the bang piggybacking off of Eminem, but damn, I know Busta Rhymes has got to be wondering what more could he do . 1 Eminem Relapse 608,000 4 Redman &...
