The Ferguson Watch Thread Overnight For 8/19/14: Tense Evening Produces Gun Shots, Multiple Arrests

Image
Tear gas, flash grenades, arrests. Those three elements have been a constant the last few nights in the Ferguson protests for the death of Michael Brown. But Monday evening added its own dramatic characteristic, as gun shots were fired towards several protestors. The only difference however was the source of were those shots arise, as other members of the public allegedly fired bullets amongst a relatively peaceful crowd. Two people were wounded as tense times surfaced again in the small town outside of St. Louis, hours after President Obama made a second public statement on Ferguson. It appeared that it would be a relatively calm evening in wake of Missouri Governor Jay Nixon lifting Sunday's midnight curfew. Most protestors marched through their community from late afternoon into sunset without any major controversy, trying to avoid being arrested at the hands of a police's edict barring marchers from stopping in the middle of the street. But as the hours passed, cert...

The Thread For 8/14/14: How Ferguson's Racial Disaster Is The Real "Leading From Behind"

Image
Screenshot from MSNBC In modern day neoconservative and centrist talk, the phrase constantly used for their perspective of President Obama's foreign policy is "leading from behind." Anyone with any barring of facts, common sense and general rationality knows how unhinged the usage of that phrase is. It speaks more to how unstable those people are and how that phrase surely needs a proper example to represent it accurately. That example has arrived in emphatic and unfortunate fashion with the latest American racial horror show in Ferguson, Missouri, thanks to its mayor exhibiting traits that would make Waldo look visible and a police chief whose behavior gives Clancy Wiggum of The Simpsons a sense of competence. Mayor James Knowles hopefully isn't harboring any ideas on running for higher positions in the future, as he has acted like he doesn't know where his town is located on the map since the early aftermath of Michael Brown joining a list of murdered ...

The Thread For 2/5/14: The Comedy of The Colorless

Image
No matter how much I tried to, and enjoyed a few episodes of the series, I could never fully get into "Seinfeld." Now one of two parts of why I couldn't get into "Seinfeld" was that it was huge when I was still a kid growing up in the 90's, where there was no outward desire for me to watch it. Although my sister's love of the show, from the Soup Nazi to Newman, helped in me not labeling it as a overrated white show lucky to appeal to many white people like I did before watching it, it was still never enough to make me be an indelible fan of the series. It's funny, because ever since the show has ended, we have seen its main protagonists and brains behind the legendary sitcom have incredible contrasts of success. There has been the good (Julia Loui-Dreyfus), the great (Larry David), the bad (Jason Alexander), and the ugly (Michael Richards and that lovable, memorable tirade of racism). In the middle of all that post show history is fittingly...

The S-Thread Thread For 12/11/12: When Analyzing Racism Completely and Idiotically Wrong.

Image
It really is annoying whenever someone talks about someone they don't know in a negative light without knowing at least some semblance about that person. It's even more annoying and disturbing when supposed journalists or news organizations talk about a person without knowing their backstory and lumping them recklessly with incongruous and idiotic assumptions. It gets yours' truly to his boiling point when I witness people who have no sense of sports journalism, and in particularly tennis journalism, and indolently do a report about a player without any knowledge of that player before that player's current incident enters the mainstream discussion, leading supposed journalists to write a poor piece not cognizant of who they are writing about. Today, we have been presented with that very sad and ridiculous case. For those casual tennis (or sports) fans or not, but know about Serena Williams, here's a quick runthrough on this asinine and completely mind-num...

TWD Election 2012 Aftermath's 1st Thread For 11/7/12: The Hilarious Anger of The Nuts And the Liars

Image
Oh it is glorious, and this is before even Pennsylvania was closed. O'Lielly was blowing a gasquet and fearing his American white world dominance was ending (And the silent disbelief on Megyn Kelly and Baier's face when O'Lielly said "the country" is changing" was hilarious): "People feel they are entitled to things, and which candidate is going to give them things." And you should all know what he meant by being entitled to things. He almost was on the verge of reverting back to his epic nutcase self, though he is always a nut: It really was quite fascinating and hilarious to see, but expected though. The Whole Delivery's election aftermath coverage will continue, as this day proceeds.

Fareed Zakaria Wins The Week!

Image
Though he is arguably "The Sunday crap shows'"most astute host (Christian Amanpour could always contend despite her middle of the road debut last weekend), Fareed Zakaria isn't one championed around most progressive circles. As one who supported the Iraq war, Zakaria certainly has his deserved share of critics. But he is usually very thoughtful and well versed in a myraid of topics, anchoring a weekly show that actually doesn't contribute to further diminishing CNN's deteriorating band and the vapid stupidity of our Sunday news discourse. However, analysis and perspective on Zakaria and his show aren't the focus here. Instead, this Newsweek columnist probably did one of the coolest things anyone has done all week. And that's publicly abase one of the hate merchants of our time in such a classy fashion : CNN host and Newsweek International editor Fareed Zakaria has returned an award from the Anti-Defamation League in protest of the ADL’s coming ...

Hero One Week, Scaredy Cat Zero The Next

Weiner's letter to Bloomberg after his fine actions on Tuesday with no purpose of tackling the real issue . Sargent puts it right into perspective : Weiner "honors" Bloomberg for taking a "powerful" stance, without endorsing the sentiment that made Bloomberg's position so powerful. * Indeed, Weiner seemed to play both sides, suggesting it's legit to probe the financing of the mosque, the stance of the project's critics. And especially when bigot nutcase Senators show their full cards on this issue , a strong response from a man that is being held as this supposed strong liberal Democratic hero is certainly needed instead of cowardice. This normally cool Brooklyn guy is surely representing his last name well right now. I guess it's the pressure AIPAC can put on him at anytime I guess.

Yesterday's Leftovers For 8/5/10: Pam Gets Slammed

Image
One of the more insane people in America right now is one Pam Gellar, who most in the political circles know all too much about. Despite the Kos one getting banned from MSNBC for virtually making Good Ol Joey Scarborough angry, Gellar's constant hatred and ignorance for things she can't relate to is deemed okay enough to go on any cable network at anytime. In the last week, Gellar has added to her many "Hall of Fame of Straight Jacket Moments" by thinking President Obama is anti-Semantic and that the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the Department of Defense, Department of State, and the executive office. Of course, Gellar gets on outlets where she expects at least the host to not slam her "fruit of the loon" views, so nowhere on cable TV will she be exposed in full daylight. Thankfully, there are places like the highlighted underrated Russian Today, with anchor Lauren Lyster, who meet Gellar's disgusting sentiments about Muslims head on. It...

Don't Fall Into The "Calling Them Racist" Trap

This will explain my full point in this thread: The legend that is KingEyeOn continued the momentum of the " Fox is racist " viewpoint that Howard Dean replaced into the talking heads conscious on Sunday with yet another classic thread from him earlier today. The evidence is clear as delight that at the very least, the Murdoch Clown Network are total cowards and piously ignorant to being able to have any smart opinion on race issues in America and anywhere else. Most of them will probably never understand the full events and emotional ramifications of minority history in this country, or at least those not apart of Goldline Dreck's peculiar lineup of black Republicans and their bimonthly appearances on that show . There are only two black correspondents that even appear on the Conservative Insane Network (Lord knows why Columbia Professor Marc Lamont Hill still goes on that network as much as he does), one black reporter named Wendell Gibson, and no black...

Too Proud To Say "Sorry"

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy A lot of people this week (particularly a good bit of black people) criticized the NAACP for even thinking one minute about the Tea Party. "They are giving the Tea Party ammunition." "Don't they have more important things to focus on like education and gay rights." "WOW NAACP, way to come to what everyone was saying about the Tea Party last year." "What is the NAACP's purpose anymore." You may have been cognizant of all the lambasting the organization received for speaking out about the Tea Party (not from the Palinities or the Tea Baggers), and they deserved it...... ......If they called the Tea Party "out right racists." Instead, what the NAACP simply did was cast a resolution , declaring that some of the element of the Tea Party for what they were. They didn't call the party "racist". It wasn't an out of control "Look ...

Our Post Racial America

Image
Today's wonderful edition : The San Antonio News reports that a Jefferson High School English teacher has been “removed from the classroom” for singling out a Latino student wearing a Mexican soccer jersey and publicly insulting him. According to the student, Augustine Ortiz, what began as a discussion about Arizona’s new immigration law (SB-1070) escalated to an anti-Latino, racist attack: Ortiz, who was wearing a jersey from a Mexican soccer team, said the teacher told him to sit in the front row. She proceeded to single him out repeatedly, Ortiz said, pointing at him as she made comments like, “The Mexicans with their attitudes are the racist ones.” Continuing to point at Ortiz, she allegedly told the class that Mexicans always “expect handouts” and “soon it’s going to be the United States of Mexico,” according to Ortiz. [...] Most be part of that new Texas curriculum. That curriculum will probably included how California also includes the Baja part that's suppose to...

This guy is really something special and crazy: No question for today that this man gets the...... ...Straight Jacket Award.

Our PostRacial Society Continues

Image
In today's version of our post-racial society, we have this lovely nugget : A federal judge Tuesday ordered a rural county in southwestern Mississippi to stop segregating its schools by grouping African American students into all-black classrooms and allowing white students to transfer to the county's only majority-white school, the U.S. Justice Department announced. The order, issued by Senior Judge Tom S. Lee of the U.S. District Court of Southern Mississippi, came after Justice Department civil rights division lawyers moved to enforce a 1970 desegregation case against the state and Walthall County. Known as Mississippi's cream pitcher for its dairy farms and bordering Louisiana 80 miles north of New Orleans, Walthall County has a population of about 15,000 people that includes about 54 percent white residents and 45 percent African American residents, according to the U.S. Census. Man, I really, really, really love how postracial our society is with its still occasi...

The Straight Jacket Award Of The Day For 3/29/10: Our PostRacial Society, TAKE #32451

Image
This one guy thinks he can tell a person's race by their voice on a phone, and also recommends that C-Span change their names to Black-Span if he continues to think it is growing in calls from black people. Just for this high quality call alone, whatever this racist clowns name is, he is deserving of the...... ......Straight Jacket Award.

The Ultimate Example Of The Post-Racial Society: Trent Franks

Just go right to the 6:22 mark , or read below : FRANKS: In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. And now we look back on it and we say "How brave were they? What was the matter with them? You know, I can't believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible." And we're right, we're right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America's soul. And yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery. And I think, What does it take to get us to wake up? In the mind of Trent, me and all my fellow African Americans are living in current times worse than being whipped, lynched, whipped so more, lynched some more, you get the picture.

Craziest Story Of The Year

Image
Image from DailyDunklin.com Via Jack and Jill Politics , one of the most incongruous and downright shocking stories you'll ever hear is this one from a blog titled " News Release Now." It's a shocking story like few others that you will read about, as college student Heather Ellis is starring at 15 years in prison this week........for allegedly cutting a line at Wal-Mart two years ago. WHAT THE HELL or WHAT THE F(expletive) you are probably saying now to yourself while reading this: Heather was in a Walmart store 3 years ago with her cousin. The two split up to find the shortest line. Since her cousin was in the shorter line, Heather joined him. That’s when the clerk accused Heather of cutting in front of the other customers. An argument ensued, leading to the manager and security guard being called, and finally the police. The incident left Ellis, an honor student on her way to medical school, charged with disturbing the peace, trespassing and two counts of assaulti...

I Guess He's Not Racist Too

Image
And this is the latest non-evidence to prove he isn't !! Pat Buchanan, in his latest column , in reference to white Americans: America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right. Don't tell MSNBC! Don't tell the NFL either if he wants to be an owner.

The Epilogue For 9/16/09: Someone Defend Them Please

Image
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy Were those employees from ACORN stupid? Yes. Did they embarrass their organization? No question. Should they be subjected to the latest nutcase right-wing fringe witch hunt? Hell no. And it is a shame that they have been victimized but undefended by anyone in the rational online community who know a few bad seeds don't speak for all. I am so glad that Ed Schultz even gave an interview to ACORN's CEO, Bertha Lewis, even though he was asking questions from a conservative talking point perspective like he was on Fixed Propaganda himself. Lewis didn't deserve a question based off of Richard Shelby, because it doesn't take a full time political insider to know where a nut like Shelby stands on this. The Alabama Senator, just like this other idiots calling for a few scale investigation from the DOJ on ACORN, want to bury this organization and emboldened their Propaganda Comedian channel and radical ag...

Today's Better Late Than Never

Image
Maybe next time they will show the speech a day after it was done. I felt exhilarated tonight. I had just witnessed dozens and dozens of parents of the La Mesa Spring Valley School District chant “Resign! Resign! Resign!” to Trustee Rick Winet – the right-wing instigator who had caused the Board to vote to prohibit the showing of President Obama’s speech to school kids. At a special Labor Day meeting, the East County board had voted 3-2 to ban the live showing of the speech. Then, in emails and publicly, Winet had declared that the speech was an assault on the Constitution. Tonight, Winet’s partisan extremism indeed felt the backlash. It was the backlash of ordinary parents, of ordinary people, of ordinary Americans. And I was proud to have stood with them tonight, clapping and calling for the resignation of the band of right-wingers who propelled this particular school district into an unwanted notoriety. One speaker later in the evening lectured the Board, that because of thei...

Score Another One For Post Racial America

Because the clues given to us over the last year or so has been so hard to find: And thanks to Carter's frankness, expect discussions where nothing would be learned except wasting your time to happen. You know, those discussions that give nutcases who call Obama an "Indonesian Muslim welfare thug" a forum for the second straight night : Yeah, and you wonder why they get mad when the subject is brought up? I wonder how those back Republican strategists feel today?
