The FIFA World Cup Thread #1/Sports Thread #1 For 7/6/10: Dutch Do Enough To Not Erupt, Wins 3-2 Thriller Over Valiant Uruguay To Advance To The Final

Image
Photo from Getty Images and FIFA.com What a great game that was folks. They survived a game with Boulahouz in defense and a mistake from Stekelenburg. To be honest, it is a shame for Uruguay, for they were valiant in defeat. The full review is here . And Man of the Match could have been a few, but Sneijder, as the catalysts, deserves it: The full match review of the first semifinal, a really fun quality game pleasing on the eye folks. The lineups : Uruguay: Muslera, M.Pereira, Godin, Victorino, Caceras, A.Pereira, Rios, Gargano, Perez, Forlan, Cavini Netherlands: Stekelenburg; Boulahourz, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Van Bronchrost, de Zeeuw, van Bommel, Kuyt, Snejider, Robben, van Persie Prediction: Big key to get Godin back, but the loss of Suarez has more on an effect on Forland today, as he will have to work extra hard. The 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread #3/Sports Thread #4 For 6/16/10: Uruguay Behind Diego Send The Host Nation Into Serious Woe

Image
Photo from Getty Images and FIFA.com The Final Analysis: Once again, managing is just so important in this sport and especially in a World Cup Final. Quite simply, it was another moment of good manager and atrocious manger. Oscar Tabarez got it perfect by bringing in Cavini so Forlan could be the playmaker with Suarez and the Palermo, and Parreira got it all totally wrong by leaving Mphela isolated and all alone for a long night. Uruguay place a lot of pressure on France and Mexico shoulders in the Group A's 4th match tomorrow, with the loser of that game in serious trouble. Thanks to Parreira awful managing, Thune's tough red card on Suarez, and Dikgacoi not available for the next match because of two yellows in two marches, South Africa have it all to do to somehow stay in this tournament. People have already written their obituary the minute the red card happened, seeing this as the moment where the host nation goes out in the group stages for the first time. Thankf...

The 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread #2/Sports Thread #2 For 6/11/10: Forlan, Govou Blow Chances As France & Uruguay End In A Scoreless Draw

Image
The site from the Cape: Photo from Getty Images The lineups......and Domenech keeps out Henry, talk about more team unity!!!! France: Lloris; Sagna, Abidal, Gallas, Evra; Ribery, Gourcuff, Toutalan, Diaby; Govou, Anelka Uruguay: Muslera; Lugano, Godin, Victorino; A. Pereira, Perez, M.Pereira, Rios, I. Gonzalez; Suarez, Forlan Well, he not only leaves Henry out, but way more surprising, he leaves Florent Malouda on the bench, and brings in Diaby out of nowhere. Domenech is just begging to get fired. Just begging. Prediction for this game : With just how dysfunctional they are right now thinks to their manager, Uruguay will win 2-0 today over France, and really place the heat on Domenech to be gone before the tournament ends. Photo from Getty Images 1st half analysis: Well, Sidney Govou blew a chance that maybe, even on his form, Thierry Henry would have scored? I think so. France did so some edge in the first half, which is more than what they have been showing of late, s...
