The Super Bowl XLIX Thread #1 For 2/1/15: The Journey Featuring injury Reports

Image
The Patriots are the healthiest they have been all season, with Jerrod Mayo the only player of significance gone. The team has adjusted to his loss, and has long forgotten about both Stevan Ridley and Alfonzo Dennard . Meanwhile, a plethora of injuries for a Seattle team not as good as it was last year. With an offense not as clinical as its 2014 version, the absences of emerging rookie Paul Richardson and safety net tight end Zach Miller are conspicuous. Also notable are losses of underrated tackles Brandon Mebane and Jordan Hill . And this does not included how all three members of their Legion of Boom are now with notable injuries to play through. More to come on TWD's Super Bowl Sunday runthrough.

The Sports Thread #1 For 1/28/14: Super Bowl Media Day 2014 (Updated Version)

Photo from Getty Images This is quite a wonderful statement being made by the Northwestern football players, and it could leato something so revolutionary with NCAA football and basketball.  Paperwork signed by what union organizers say represents the majority of the current Wildcats football team was submitted Tuesday to the Chicago office of the National Labor Relations Board. Cards filled out by individual players declared they wished to be represented by the newly formed College Athletes Players Association (CAPA) against what they deem their employer, Northwestern University.  CAPA is backed by the United Steelworkers, who had their international president, Leo Gerard, and national political director, Tim Waters, in Chicago to assist in the process. It is running in conjunction with the National College Players Association, a once small advocacy outfit from California operated for years by former UCLA linebacker Ramogi Huma. And unsurprising, the powers tha...

Sports Sunday Special: Super Bowl 44 Game Preview

Image
The 44th installment of the National Football League's championship contest between the American Football Conference and the National Football conference in Miami, Florida is headlined by the two teams who showed themselves to be head and shoulders ahead of everyone else this year. Going for their second title in four years, the Indianapolis Colts go back to Miami to see if they can replicate the feat of winning Super Bowl 41 three years ago over the Chicago Bears. It was a massive monkey off the back of one Peyton Manning, capturing his first championship. And he certainly has as much desire to get a second ring as he did his first one. For the New Orleans Saints, their long troubled history of a franchise could have its most defining moment ever today, winning their first Super Bowl title. The heart and soul of New Orleans is felt by the players coached under Sean Payton and led by Drew Brees. Their success this season, particularly in the beloved Superdome, has led them one...

A Weird FOX Impersonation

Image
I guess "The Eye" is not opened to upholding any integrity and honesty. We all know CBS has already tarnished itself with their utter hypocrisy in regards to what they feel is a proper ad for the Super Bowl. Their choice to break their previous non-advocacy rules (and alter them later) for Tebow and Focus on the Family but choose to be concerned about TEH Gays and their banning on their ad has received growing negative attention as the NFL's ultimate contest approaches. And the castigation against their dishonest ways may continue to rise with how they have actually helped Focus on the Family in shaping their ad. Journalism ethics be damned : According to a report in The Daily Beast, CBS worked for months with Focus on the Family developing the anti-choice ad's script featuring college football star Tim Tebow which the network ultimately approved (surprise, surprise): The major broadcast networks have avoided political advocacy ads for years, so CBS's ...
