The Sports Thread #1/2014 FIFA World Cup 2-A Days Team Runthrough #1 For 5/28/14: Queiroz Looks To Get Out Sir Alex's Shadow

That label appears that it will continue in Brazil 2014 for the former South Africa and Portugal manager despite a qualifying campaign that saw them finish ahead of South Korea to top their group.  In fact, they swept ...

The Thread #1 For 11/26/13: That Question You Won't Hear Asked in America.......Heard

Image
"Is it irrational for Iran to have a nuclear weapon?"  A good friend of this mostly irrelevant site and colleague in Chris Hayes had on his show last night Rep. Eliot Engel with the good sir that is Hooman Majd, and asked that great question above to Engel's pro-AIPAC, pro-Zionist loving self. It was a question that you will never hear anywhere else in American cable or broadcast news unless from a real journalist. You will see Hayes' pertinent question from the mouths of faux-centrist journalists who have hurt this country for so long with their shoddy work. Also, Majd was terrific in not backing down to Engel's usual dismissive, disturbing, and disgraceful pro-Zionist bias. If I were hosting the show, I would have definitely joined in on slamming Engel for calling Rouhini a "hard-liner," when he is certainly not that. More to come from The Whole Delivery, stay tuned.

The Fun Thread #1 For 10/23/12 (Final Version): Romnesia Geography

Image
So brilliantly dumb, and proud of it: In a sane US journalism world, where forced and desperate centrism for ratings would not be tolerated, this would be the lead story of the day and the entire rest of the week. Instead, it's just swept under the rug by the David Gregory's and Chuck Todd's of the world. It really is wonderful to see Romney's 8th grade study night on Sunday evening produce one of many idiotic lines like this on Monday, October 22, 2012. I guess John Bolton, Dan Senor, Donald Rumsfeld and Sir Cheney from afar and his other neocon advisers most have gotten their Halliburton maps mixed up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A flashback to yesterday.......It's Twister, the hot spot! A Fun Thread at The Whole Delivery.

The Read International For 9/10/10 (1st Edition): Iran To Release One of The Captured US Hikers

Image
Photo from EPA It's been more than a long year of epic misery for Sarah Shourd. Thankfully, it seems to be on the verge of ending : Iran has announced it will free Sarah Shourd, one of the three Americans it has held in prison for more than a year on accusations of spying. An Iranian government official said on Thursday that Shourd will be released as an act of clemency to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Shourd, along with Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, were arrested in July 2009 after straying into Iranian territory from Iraq. The three said that they became lost on a hike in Iraqi Kurdistan. US authorities insist that they are innocent and say they should be released immediately. But what about the fate of this two men who were also captured with her? Ghanbar Naderi, a journalist for the Iran Daily newspaper, said that the other prisoners would be released shortly. "The female prisoner is going to be released," he said. "I can assure you tha...

The Read International For 7/13/10: It Really Makes The Argument Hard, Doesn't It?

Image
King Abdullah of Jordan is none to please about the United States threats to cut off financial to his country (Photo from AFP) When we act like this, it makes it really hard for anyone who knows the entire story for us to continue screaming at the nutcase Ahmadinejad and more sanctions on his Supreme Leader's final say government . The United States has threatened to cut financial aid to Jordan, if the Hashemite Kingdom continues to develop its nuclear program without coordinating with Israel, the Arab media reported on Monday. The American threat comes after Amman rejected Israeli demands to participate in extraction and enrichment of uranium, and Jordan's failure to obtain US approval for its nuclear plan, despite talks between the two parties, which lasted six months. According to reports, the ultimatum was probably given to Amman days after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judah. This action by our State Department giv...

The Read International For 6/9/10: The Newest Toughest Sanctions On Iran EVER........Before The Next Newest Toughest Sanctions On Iran EVER!!

Image
Photo from AFP Same story, same result : The United Nations Security Council has overwhelmingly agreed to a new package of economic sanctions against Iran. 12 of the council's 15 members voted on Wednesday to approve the sanctions resolution. But Turkey and Brazil, fresh off their fuel swamp deal with Iran a few weeks back , casted their votes for the alternative, and Lebanon wasn't abstained their vote. Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice (especially Susan Rice) have been harping on with how these are the toughest sanctions ever on Iran. Susan Rice, the United States ambassador to the UN, praised the vote as a "decisive" move against Iran's nuclear programme, which she called a "grave threat to international security." "Iran has shunned opportunity after opportunity to verify the peaceful nature of its nuclear programme," she said. "Iran has given us all more reason, not less, to suspect that its goal is the ability to develop a nu...

The Read International For 8/8/10: Israel Tells The Rest Of The World To Shove It, While The Rest Of the World Slams Iran Again

Image
Because who is going to tell them to stop? America? Hahahaha, that's a good one : Israel has said it will launch its own investigations into last week's deadly raid on a Gaza aid flotilla, after rejecting a UN proposal for an international probe into the attack. In a statement on Monday, the Israeli military said it was gathering an "internal team of experts" to examine the operation and "establish lessons from the event". It said the investigation would report its findings on the attack, which left nine activists dead and more than 100 wounded, on July 4. It seems almost though the UN is the 21st century League of Nations nowadays. But we all shouldn't be surprised at all though. Funny enough though, while "Netanyahu and his Yahoos" continue to go freely do what they do, expect more sanctions, as always more sanctions, on Iran . The United Nations Security Council has agreed on a final package of economic sanctions against Iran, pavin...

The Read International For 10/1/09: Well, What Do You Know? Diplomacy Works Again (Updated)

Image
But the neo-cons would just call it being weak A new phase in the diplomatic effort to get Iran to freeze its nuclear activities will be opened this week. Talks are set to resume a week after the revelation that Iran has built a new enrichment plant in the mountains near Qom. Western diplomats say that the talks represent the last chance Iran has to convince the countries negotiating with it that its intentions are peaceful and that if there is no progress, then further sanctions will be considered by the end of the year. Now really, things didn't change at all in the whole picture between current US relations with Iran, besides Iran opening their facility and all. The same main talking points are being made and all. That won't stop the neo-con nutcases from yelling all over TV today and tomorrow. Updated : This, however, is significant, and is vastly overlooked : Iran agreed in principle at high-level talks here to ship most of its enriched uranium to Russia , where it would...
