The Read International For 7/13/10: It Really Makes The Argument Hard, Doesn't It?
King Abdullah of Jordan is none to please about the United States threats to cut off financial to his country (Photo from AFP)When we act like this, it makes it really hard for anyone who knows the entire story for us to continue screaming at the nutcase Ahmadinejad and more sanctions on his Supreme Leader's final say government .
The United States has threatened to cut financial aid to Jordan, if the Hashemite Kingdom continues to develop its nuclear program without coordinating with Israel, the Arab media reported on Monday. This action by our State Department gives more possible fuel for Iran's continued obdurate position. "Why should we have Israel than check our enrichment policy, like you are making Jordan" is what they can clearly bring up.
The American threat comes after Amman rejected Israeli demands to participate in extraction and enrichment of uranium, and Jordan's failure to obtain US approval for its nuclear plan, despite talks between the two parties, which lasted six months.
According to reports, the ultimatum was probably given to Amman days after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judah.
And no matter how much you loathe the egomaniac that is Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader Khamenei, they would make a justified point that is hard to counter.
Nevertheless, Jordan is at the mercy of the United States and Israel here. That is what happens when you accept foreign aid, where even if you don't like the treatment given to you, you truly don't have any leverage to complain about it other than to highlight the obvious hypocrisy to the rest of the world. You are basically the puppet under the ventriloquist's dominion.
It's a shame we can't boss the Netanyahu Administration like we are willing to easily do at any time to Jordan.
And it's further more appalling when our bossing around is inspired whenever Netanyahu and his yahoos complain.
