No, They Are Monsters

Image
Wendell Potter, the former CIGNA employee turned moral whistleblower on our insane health insurance companies, was back on Countdown with Keith Olbermann last night to discuss the latest deleterious trick of his former industry to retain their inhumane profits. As reports indicate , those heartless robots at the top of our dysfunctional embarrassment for health providing in this country are looking at a way to stop offering child only plans as immediate parts of " Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act " come into effect on Thursday. Potter has been a wonderful blessing in the emotion driven fight for a true health system for the people over the last year and a half. But his restraint in not labeling his former colleagues in the field "monsters" and just saying their continued actions to deny children coverage is just "part of the system" exonerates them from their crimes. Wendell Potter Says It All

Much attention from Countdown tonight has expectedly come from Keith's special comment expressing his disapproval with the sad bill that we have at the moment. But for me, despite how great that was to see from him as usual, even more of a steering indictment for how horrible this legislation is comes from the thoughts of one Wendell Potter. Potter, the former CIGNA executive figure, has been a crucial voice to listen to the whole entire year. He has lived the life of the health insurance companies that he fights now today, knowing the same people that he worked really can't stand him for exposing the aspersions and immoralities of his former colleagues. Potter explained to Olbermann how it is truly is "Pop Champagne week" (as I dub it) at the moment for Wellpoint, Aetna, Bluecross and his former employers. "Is it a bailout for the insurance industries?" "It certainly is, it contains everything the industry wants, and it's been stripped of things t...

9/17/09: TWD's Agenda For The Day: Truly The Loneliest Bill Ever

Image
Everyone hates it. Howard Dean : "The Baucus bill is the worst piece of healthcare legislation I've seen in 30 years," Dean said last night at a healthcare town hall and book signing in Washington. "In fact, it's a $60 billion giveaway to the health insurance industry every year," he said. "It was written by healthcare lobbyists, so that's not a surprise. It's an outrage." Jay Rockefeller “I’ll have many, many, many amendments,” he said. “There is no way I can vote for Sen. Baucus’ plan for many reasons.” Wendell Potter: No one likes this crap bill, and have blown it out the water. Everyone except the insurance companies and the stock market . But you know what I think (yeah, like you really care and all). Baucus' own bill even hates its own self!!!

The Story Of Wendell Potter

Image
In 1994, you would have been angry with Wendell Potter. Hell, you may still be angry with him if you are familiar with him. Being the head corporate communication figure of CIGNA, Potter played a massive role in what we all know now: Clinton halth care reform defeated and to this day, an awful, immoral and (mostly importantly for some) fiscally unstable health care system. He thought what he was doing, and what he continued to do throughout this current decade, was the right thing to do. He was fighting the good fight in his own opinion, a perspective that led to him fighting against Michael Moore's film "Sicko" by training those to combat the filmmaker with taking points to damage any credibility he would generate from it. That tricked worked, because it led to shills Sanjay Gupta ( and Wolf Blitzer ) trying to smear him in those now infamous CNN interviews a few years ago, only for Moore. (CNN for you nowadays, but must of you know that of course.) Well compensated a...
