You Couldn't Slap TARP As Hard As This Report Did

Image
Though released earlier this week, it is very necessary to not forget the emphatic scolding of the Bank Bailout by its Special Inspector General. And this summary from the notable "Economic Populist" really burns everyone at the Treasury, especially Timothy Geithner. Hopefully though, as Geithner continues to get the hammering he deserves (with Obama his boss of course), people will never forget the architect of this Wall Street Welfare package Hank Paulson. He has continued to abscond from public condemnation so easily (just like all the other prominent figures of the Bush Administration), highlighting another element of our country's dysfunction. If you haven't had a chance to read that summary of the lengthy 338 page report , I encourage you to see an utter slapfest done in simply understandable Layman's term.

If She Is Happy, Then It's A Good Thing

President Obama has officially nominated Elizabeth Warren to her new role, to be his assistant and help Timothy Geither set up CFPB. It appears my initial reaction towards this was wrong, and that is a thing I'm happy about. Warren seems to be very satisfied with the role she has taken. As Marcy Wheeler indicates , Warren wouldn't be in this position unless she maintained real relevance and ability to shape things without having to worry about her ideas getting slapped down by Geithner and Larry Summers. In short, Warren is happy with her new role from reports. In fact, this esteemed champion for middle class families even posted on the White House blog this morning . May her new job fully be able to facilitate the CFPB to protect consumers across the country, and not be hindered by any forces trying to disrupt and destroy her valuable services. Also, may this lead to Chris Dodd quietly going into retirement instead of offering silly press quotes about placing Warren in ...

The 2nd Thread For 7/16/10: Please Let's Not Be Further Stupid Hacks Than We Already Are

Here is a way to have an already dubious centrist bill get more lukewarm, tepid support. You give negative signs about hiring one of the leading titans for people in America against Wall Street overloads, especially if you are a much maligned figure creating those negative sentiments . Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has expressed opposition to the possible nomination of Elizabeth Warren to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, according to a source with knowledge of Geithner's views. Probably no one else could rip the incompetent and fortuitous Geithner as well as world class MIT economist Simon Johnson did last night. Oh it is worth the read and thensome . If the Democratic leadership really wants to win in the November elections, they should think very hard about the further consequences of Mr. Geithner. Politics aside though, the Harvard law professo is a lady who just deserves anything great that comes her way. Elizabeth Warren cares about people, simple...

The Capital For 10/19/09: Geithner, Feeling Heat, Points The Finger At Cheney Administration

In the last few days, Progressive Congressional figures in the House have placed a lot of heat on Tim Geithner for basically favoring Wall Street over Main Street in their opinion. Peter DeFazio is the leader in all of this Today though, instead of being able to address rational people like DeFazio, Geithner had to get into a shouting match with an idiot like Kevin Brady today . In a fiery exchange at Thursday's Joint Economic Committee hearing with ranking Republican Kevin Brady (Texas), who suggested that Geithner had "failed" and should reconsider his job, the Treasury secretary asserted that he and his team had made great strides bringing the economy back from "the brink." "I agree with almost nothing of what you said," replied a heated Geithner, charging President George W. Bush's leadership was to blame for the country's financial woes. "Again, it's just a basic fact: A year ago, this economy was falling at the rate of 6 percent...

The Sleep Time And Rise "n" Shine Thread For 8/26-27/09: It's Back, So I Know You're Happy

And we are back with the funniest thread on TWD. Based off the great people at DIGG , questions were given to Timothy Geithner from the rag that is the Wall Street Journal: What you don't ever do as a music artist......let alone a virtually forgotten rapper: Get mad at someone in Applebees for playing an old song (huge thanks to the one and only Alex Gonzalez for this one): Megan McCardle's apathy is quite scary ....and disturbing. Been having a lot of fun with my friends over this one for the last two days. Look at the Top 25 most, and I quote, "douchiest" schools in the country. Yeah, this was embarrassing for Microsoft today....I know Bill Gates, even if he isn't on the day to day operations anymore, was probably really pissed about this : Replacing the black guy with a white guy. Thanks to Photoshop, reverse affirmative action is in place. The Lockerbie bomber maybe living longer says this cancer expert than most may think. And to close, I'm watching a g...
