If you just received news from our sad cable media, you would just think that Charlie Rangel was the only ethic scandal in town going on (well, before the one on Maxine Waters was brought up over the weekend). Yet just as big of a story (and even more juicy in the details) is the continued ongoing mess of Nevada Republican Senator John Ensign, which has had such a hard time finding attention again on the television screen after Rick Sanchez properly embarrassed the philandering fool at the exact end of last year . After The Hill reported on the latest developments last Friday , both Chris Hayes and Steve Benen were the only ones to re-ask the salient question (that they of course knew the answer to) on "Why the spotlight on Rangel while Ensign's situation with new developments, still remained under their colleagues' peripheral?" Another unfaithful dummy in the Senate Sources in Washington and Nevada say Republican Sen. John Ensign, a rising star in the Republican Party considering a 2012 presidential bid will hold a press conference later today in which he will acknowledge an extramarital affair. Ensign, a member of the Senate GOP leadership, flew back to his native Las Vegas today in anticipation of the public announcement, sources said, missing a vote considered key to the Nevada tourist industry. He is lucky that he is in Nevada though. He may actually keeps his job despite his cheating ways.

From the great Jed Lewison : NRSC Chairman John Ensign of Nevada not only essentially concedes defeat at the presidential level, but also blames voters for the GOP's failures, saying that they have "mistakenly" blamed Bush for the nation's economic woes. The real culprits, according to Ensign? Congressional Democrats and their "overregulation." Lewison concludes: Just another Republican living in the state of denial. Sadly, that still is the case, for me, that is so hard to understand. How literally "out oft ouch" and insensitive prominent members of this party are at this point of their well-known deterioration is stunning to say the least.
