Music Thread #1 for 6/15/09: Lil Wayne Can't Block The Documentary On Him From Coming Out

Image
That documentary looks to be coming out, whether he likes it or not Efforts to stop the inclusion and release of “private and sensitive” material for a documentary featuring Lil Wayne have been halted. On Friday (June 12), California Superior Court Judge Michael Mink denied the Cash Money Records rapper’s motion to prevent Digerati (QD3 Entertainment) from releasing a documentary titled The Carter in its entirety.

Music Thread #2 for 1/7/08: The Stunning Story Today Of Asher Roth Ending The Bomb Threat On A Plane Today

Image
Photo from Chris Llewlyn via URB He's an upcoming MC getting a lot of attention. But Asher Roth may get even more attention away from his music. And rightfully so: In a story definitely making it rounds online and throughout, Roth and Chris Llewellyn helped stop a man on their plane traveling to Los Angeles after claiming he had a bomb. Stunningly stuff indeed.

Music Thread #1 for 12/8/08: The Runthrough, Including A Time When Ne-Yo Wasn't So Popular

Spit. Random quotes that still won't be enough to generate international news pandemonium came from Curtis Jackson's mouth today. As Shaheem Reid wrote today, 50 says Eminem is " Like his grandmother." The rest of the article is really not worth reading, through Em's new song "Number one" leaked on Friday (and for some, probably earlier.) So early, that it isn't even finished. The new 1.Here's struggling to get back to full relevance Britney Spears with "Cirus." Just why on Earth did her writers call it "Cirus?" No PR skills there. 2. HAHAHAHA, Busta Rhymes is catching some heat for his new song "Arab Money" which came out a few weeks ago. He certainly didn't mean it in that way did Busta, but nowadays, you got to look at an idea from all angles. By the way, talk about a rough year. Most forgot that he even put out an album in the summer. Andre 3000 and Cartoon Network are getting sued for "Class of 3000...

A much needed catchup on the music scene is needed for the site. Peace between T.I and Shawty Lo Looks far away from happening: Dirty Awards 2008 Battle Between T.I. and Shawty Lo from Gyant on Vimeo . Jay-Z and Coldplay continued their harmony with each other. Britain will be happy to see that especially. More reason why ANYBODY should want Chamillionaire to succeed. Seriously, the game needs more dudes like that. The mess that has become K-West on Conan O'Brien last night: But he, as you may have seen in this interview, and angry with the paparazzi. And something is being done about that. Actually, a good new video from Ne-Yo, this from his "Mad" song. Now, can he write a non-love related song. I'm just saying. Speaking of cliche', here's another Keri Hilson video that really does nothing. And it features another guest appearance from............you guess it? Weezieeee. More later, because we have a lot to catch up on here.

Music Thread #2 for 11/19/08- Did AllHipHop Keep It Real Or What Today ? ("I AM.....Sasha Fierce " Album Review)

The supposed "baddest chick in R&B" gets a 6.5 out of 10 from AHH. OOOOOOOOOOOO. It’s hard to tell exactly what Beyoncé Knowles is trying to prove anymore. The hardest-working woman in music is in no danger of going anywhere, and there’s an aura of glamour surrounding her that can only be described as “star power.” Still, despite the series of hits she’s put on the charts, her full catalogue of music is the least appealing thing about her. Just keep on reading if you want, but the highlighted quote says it all. The Singles are there, and after that, nothing else really. It shows a limited writer, or group of writers to be honest, to elevate her to the status of at least her performances, signing range, and overall diligence. But diligence does not bring musical genius, and that is the one true Achilles heel with Beyonce'. Now, saying that she isn't a "genius" does not mean that this woman is smart and savvy. However, it doesn't take much to understan...

Music Thread #1 for 11/19/08: "I'm Not Aretha Franklin"- Cassie (You Sure Aren't)

Photo from allhiphop.com I just don't know what to say about this interview, until after some of these quotes: AllHipHop.com Alternatives: Are you still working on the new project? Cassie: I’m hoping to finish up before Thanksgiving. That’s my goal because I’ve been working on it for a minute now. It’s great. It’s really coming together. I have a lot of content. Not sure what we’re going to pick yet. But it’s all coming together, finally… This is just another example of an artist in the music industry having almost no clue the direction his, or in this case her, album will be going. Cassie, who may I remind you or info you for the first time, got her deal by just being able to remember Bigge's verse on Juicy (besides the exterior look she has of course), doesn't have definite final say on her own album. Her own album. But it's gets better. Especially when the movie question comes in? AHHA: What was it like acting on the big-screen [Step Up 2: The Streets]? Cassie: It w...

Music Thread #2 for 11/12/08: This Man Is So Inconsistent, It's ILLLLLLLL

Photo from rap-up.com Truly hilarious, and really groundbreaking : Hip-Hop star Lil’ Wayne will take part in a historic night for the music business during The 42nd Annual Country Music Awards. The rapper will perform alongside Kid Rock during the Awards show, which takes place tonight (November 12) in Nashville, Tennessee. While African-American “Hick Hop” artist Cowboy Troy graced the CMA stage in 2004, Lil' Wayne is surely the first hardcore Hip-Hop artist to ever set foot on the Awards Shows’ stage. I am totally on his side with this one, I really am. And it is going to be funny to see the reaction of people in the crowd when this happens. You can call it the latest bizarre move from Dwayne Carter all you want, but this one is pure genius. I guess those Country Music Award folks didn't expect this to happen. Hell, they didn't expect to get Kid Rock either before he went to the country roots. Update: Apparently, he got my hopes up way too high, because he did little to n...

Photo from Getty Images Some people just don't get it, especially in the hip-hop world. This election isn't about your asinine, stupid a-- thoughts. It is simply about those who have lost their jobs, lost their homes, lost their love for this country. They have lost the desire to wake up in the morning and say, "I'm lucky to even be born here, where I could be in a lot worse situations or problems than what I have now in America." Instead, we get narcisstic idiots like the world class artist pimp himself continue to literally awhore himself every single time in the last few weeks with his ridiculous videos . It's even worse when a guy like illseed, who wants to make everyone happy instead of just telling it like it is all the time, sucks up to this self-obsessed man by saying this : These days, Diddy operates outside of traditional politics and lets it all out with his viral videos that get thousands of viewers. Operates outside of the traditional politics b...
