Sorry Ali Flick, I Want To, But I Just Cant.

Think Progress stalwart Ali Frick has this post up, with this title : Now when I saw this, I wanted to really give Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota Governor, the Straight Jacket Award for today. Then I read what Pawlenty said: Opening his remarks with a reference to NBC’s “Inside the Obama White House” special, Pawlenty told the gathering of about 200 students, “I haven’t seen something that staged since that half-naked Austrian fell onto the face of Eminem at the MTV music awards.” “Eminem was mad,” he continued, to laughter and applause. “And so, just like Eminem getting dumped on, we’ve got to kind of regroup. We’ve got to continue to fight. And we’ve got some things worth fighting for.” Pawlenty didn't tell these young Republicans he talked to on Friday to be "just like Eminem" though. He only told them to what their diminishing party should do, although it was a horrible analogy if there ever was one. And though Ali does point to the fact that Pawlenty didn't know th...

Music Thread #1 for 6/4/09: Eminem Says He Was In On The Bruno Gag

Photo from MTV.com He says he was in on it After Eminem said he was "thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it," the response was sharply divided over whether the bit was a hilarious display of good humor by Slim Shady or a bad look for a rapper. Whatever. I still believe he didn't know the extent of how Cohen he was going to take it, but let's put this one to bed, hopefully. Just some quick hits Whitney Houston is coming back on September 1 with a new album. Good to see. Now the rumors say that Drake is closer to signing with Atlantic Records than Universal Music as reported yesterday. It's got to be the upfront money. Joe Budden is apparently challenging Method Man and Redman . And sorry Mandy Moore fans, but to me, she is irrelvant.

Okay, this is the thing with the Eminem-Bruno situation: Though Eminem was told before hand that some prank was going to go down with Sasha Cohen, he didn't know that it would get to that extent. Simple as that, and a reason why he, nor MTV have probably hasn't release a statement yet. He knew, but he didn't know the whole details. Better news for Em though, as he was apart of a star-studded event with Hova , Travis Barker and DJ AM for Activision's newest game DJ Hero, the spin off to the megahit Guitar Hero series. HAHAHA After 722 days on the market, 50 Cent has taken his Farmington, Connecticut mansion out of the running for a new resident. The Hartford Courant reports that the 50,000-square-foot home’s asking price of $14.5 million was too much to attract potential buyers. "The house is not worth $1[dollar] over $5 million," Prudential Premier Homes agent Rob Giuffria told the newspaper, as he joined local real estate agents in alluding to the mansion...

Music Thread #2 for 6/1/09: Not Much To Report Here

Photo from MTV.com The story of the day in music is clearly how funny this incident was last night. And more people continue to believe (like myself) that Eminem wasn't in on this at all. If he wasn't, then maybe Nick Cannon was. I guest the start of music journalism has gotten to the point that what artists twitter on their pages is a main story. That's not a "sigh comment" or expressing disappointment with that, because there are a whole lot worse in music journalism. But it is what it is. New Fabolous video: Probably will be a big club hit for him, but the sells are another thing And Susan Doyle's fatigue story may go on for one more day. Hopefully.
