For a second time this year, the DISCLOSE Act has failed to pass in the House of Lords. 59-39 was the final total, as a disclipine party line vote was the end result. Even Ben Nelson decided to not buck his party for another rare moment, deciding to stay with the Democrats on this bill. Nevertheless, as always the case, no Republicans wanted to vote in favor of the bill, adhering to their corporate overloads at the sacrifice of the American people once more. Not a surprise, but just another routine day in the most dysfunctional and anti-democratic chamber known to modern day human being. Update : In more positive news, the House got out the Small Business bill , as that is now passed onto to President Obama for signature.

You can already see the energy devoted to those "wrong reasons", and they have generated the top headlines and focus throughout the rational online community. And that is a total shame. Because for this day, the standout event wasn't another slap from directly the top to who the hell knows who, or how a once proud Congressman is creating a very sad and narcissistic ending to his career. Rather, in a sane world, most of the attention in the US political bubble we reside in would be on the current Speaker of the House. Unless it's the final numbers in an election, I have dwindled in my attention and importance for polls over the years. Maybe it is more the ones conducting the polls, such as Scott Ras publican , or the lazy analysis our vapid media draws from them ...

229-173 is the final vote on the resolution, as at least 16 Democrats voted with the entire nutcase party because they hate teachers too I guess. The roll call to show those idiots to come. Not sure if amendments is coming right now, so will keep you posted. Sadly though, that was overshadowed by this idiot: Update: Okay, the final actual vote (I know, confusing) passed 247-161 , with 2 Republicans joining in to actually vote with the Democrats after the 1st and 2nd votes of the day, where no Republicans were on board. And those Republicans were Cao (of course) and Castle.

As documented earlier this morning , the Afghan war supplemental, with needed funding for teachers, summer youth jobs, and the black farmers settlement that the Obama Administration supposedly settled on their end in February stripped out, passed the House in resounding fashion by the final total of 308-111 . Th bill was already dreadful on the basis of it continuing the funding of an insane war. But its already toxic nature was made further pestilent and awful with how how the House of Lords decided to take all of those needed things out of the bill. So take a look once more at all of those 148 Democrats who voted with all but 12 people from the nutcase party to keep on funding our efforts to somehow fight fellow NATO allies among our epic struggle after struggle over there . And know today that this nation's Congressional figures thought it once more pertinent to deliver money to a foreign money than its desperately in need people here at home. Oh, and get this lovely lit...

Despite them still sucking at 17%, while Democrats are up at 47% rating in Congress. This month's improvement in congressional approval is bipartisan, with approval among Democrats climbing from 36% to 47% and among Republicans edging up from 9% to 17%. Independents, however, buck that trend: moving from 16% to 14%, the percentage approving is the lowest it has been all year. But they probably will be yelling this line that Gallup provides! Congress' job approval rating now precisely matches the 26% recorded in November 2006, just before control of the House shifted from Republicans to Democrats, and is not too dissimilar from the 23% recorded in October 1994, just before control shifted from Democrats to Republicans. I hate posting speculative questions like that in the title, but that is the case here from Greg Sargent : This could turn into a big story, so it’s worth watching: The House Dem leadership is considering dropping a measure from the big war spending bill that would block the release of detainee photos, which could mean parting ways with the White House on a highly sensitive national security issue. A Democratic aide confirms that the Dem leadership is in discussions with the White House about possibly dropping the Lieberham-Graham amendment from the House version of the war supplemental, which passed the Senate and would empower the President to nix the release of detainee photos for national security. If House Dems do strip the measure, which is strongly opposed by civil libertarians and House liberals, it could make the White House look incapable of keeping Dems in line for something Obama says is necessary for troop safety.
