After today's latest monarchial, affluent, and elitist ruling by the John Roberts Corporate Court, allowing the Kochs and Adelsons of the world to spread their already toxic influence on American governing, it is once again salient to bring up this question I always ask: Why isn't the Supreme Court televised? I mean, seriously, this is something in 2014 that should long never be a question, but will continue to be for what I fear will be forever. Television hasn't stopped nutty Republicans (with the help of sellout and willing Democrats capitulating pure democratic principles) from awful ideas and bills passed in Congress, and you can't see lawmakers every steps no matter how much transparency was thrown during the Obama first campaign. But just imagine if there was no C-SPAN given to at least provide some visual evidence for how our public officials were either screwing us or actually fighting for our causes as general collective? Oh dear, the repeal campaign will start revving up again : A federal judge Monday refused to dismiss a Virginia lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal health-care law, handing the law's foes their first victory in a courtroom battle likely to last years. U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson rejected arguments from Obama administration lawyers that Virginia has no standing to sue over the law and no chance of ultimately prevailing in its constitutional claim. Hudson was appointed by Bush in 2002 and was, randomly enough, the judge to give Michael Vick his sentencing from the dogfighting era. But I guess it's a okay for a judge with Bush ties to create a ridiculous and insane process of lawsuits from now, not only in "Bob McDonnell Land" but maybe even a number of other states getting ruined by the nutcase party. This country really does loathe itself.

Johannes Mehserle, the police officer who shot and killed Oscar Grant on New Year's Day, has been just "involuntary mansluaghter" as the charge, with a maximum of four years coming from the charge. But Mehserle could face just two years in prison based on certain conditions. On August 6, the court will talk about the full sentencing then, but it could have been much much more worse for the officer. And for the family of Grant, they are very disappointed . From his trial lawyer. We are truly disappointed, this is a compromise verdict, we do believe this was a 2nd degree murder. Thankfully though, there has been no arrest or any serious violence so far.

No matter how much she is liked by conservatives, Elena Kagan will still be painted by them as far to the left. In the minds of conservatives, everyone is simply a far-leftist . Every.........ONE : I hasten to repeat that no matter how sensible Kagan may be on the national-security and executive-power issues that aggravate the Left, it doesn’t follow that conservatives should welcome her nomination. For on a host of other issues—abortion, same-sex marriage, race and gender quotas, and an aggressively secularist reading of the Establishment Clause, to name just a few—there’s no reason to believe that Kagan would be anything other than a doctrinaire liberal judicial activist. Even when they are a weak minority and their ideas are both irrelevant and disastrous, conservatives will always want everything THEY want at every single time. It just only makes common simple sense that President Obama chooses someone who truly has a liberal background. A true liberal background not locate...

While everyone is speculating that the centrist Elena Kagan maybe John Paul Stevens replacement on the Supreme Court, a new contender has emerged out of nowhere. Montana federal judge Sidney Thomas is that new name in the race to join the highest court of the land. An administration official says President Barack Obama is considering federal appeals court judge Sidney Thomas of Montana for the Supreme Court, one of about 10 people under serious review. The Associated Press has confirmed the names of seven of them. Among the others under consideration are former Georgia Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears, federal appeals court judges Diane Wood and Merrick Garland, Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Michigan Gov. The 89 year old Justice has been on the highest court in the land since 1975, and the search for his replacement will definitely now begin to officially emerge. And the fierce, ugly partisan nature of the Republican Party will certainly get higher and higher.

Could be so based on today's ruling that will make Comcast happy, though it's not at all over : A federal appeals court has ruled that the Federal Communications Commission lacks the authority to require broadband providers to give equal treatment to all Internet traffic flowing over their networks. Tuesday’s ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is a big victory for the Comcast Corporation, the nation’s largest cable company. It had challenged the FCC’s authority to impose so called “net neutrality” obligations. It marks a serious setback for the F.C.C., which needs authority to regulate the Internet in order to push ahead with key parts of its national broadband plan. Though it is commendable that our legal system under the Obama Administration is making the decision to let trials happen (something that certainly wouldn't have happen under the previous one), this crucial fact is getting overlooked by most : The problem is that this decision does not stand alone. Instead, it is accompanied by this: Holder will also announce that a major suspect in the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, will face justice before a military commission, as will a handful of other detainees to be identified at the same announcement, the official said. It was not immediately clear where commission-bound detainees like al-Nashiri might be sent, but a military brig in South Carolina has been high on the list of considered sites.
