"First Thought I Had Was....Were We In America?"

Image
The pictures are powerful: Photos from the AJC The story is even more powerful: Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy Reporter Ron Mutt couldn't have asked a more poignant question in the utter insanity that was this today : Thirty thousand people showed up to receive Section 8 housing applications in East Point Wednesday , suffering through hours in the hot sun, angry flare-ups in the crowd and lots of frustration and confusion for a chance to receive a government-subsidized apartment. The massive event sometimes descended into a chaotic mob scene filled with anger and impatience. Some 62 people needed medical attention and 20 of them were transported to a hospital, authorities said. A baby went into a seizure in the heat and was stabilized at a hospital. People were removed on stretchers and when a throng of people who had been waiting hours in a line were told to move to another line, people started pushing, shoving and cursing, witnes...

The 1st Thread For 5/20/10: Apologies Need To Be Given To Blumenthal, PRONTO

Image
Photo from The New York Times, the place that should apologize the most to Richard Blumenthal After assessing over the situation from a variety of perspectives , it is without a shadow of a doubt time for Richard Blumenthal to be delivered a heap of penitence from a wide variety of people, including myself. Most importantly however (because the campaign of the World Wrestling Entertainment group won't even dare bother to do so), the apologies to this man and the fierce blacklash that he has faced from this highly sensitive issue should come first from Raymond Hernandez , spokesperson Diane McNulty , and the rest of the New York Times . Just from a young fledgling journalist's perspective, seeing the New York Times have another embarrassing moment highlights how much of an utter hell hole journalism has become in America (and continues to diminish by the second), and how mind-numbingly depressing it can get witnessing it. But with how long they took to show any remorse f...

They Still Think You Are Dumb

To this yesterday, where Mary "Liedrieu" (yeah, not superbly clever) creates her own Republican like revisionist history in saying that President Obama never supported the public option (at 2:13 mark): Liedrieu has every right to believe the America people have amnesia, and she has every right to pull as many fast ones as she normally does. Thankfully, I also reserve to right to call her Mary Liedrieu because she is nothing short of a compulsive liar here, and it is let another shameful moment in how broken our government is. Her lie isn't even a good one considering that all throughout last year President Obama as candidate Obama said that repeatedly, and has said what he has said about a public option this year before going "this is health insurance reform " crazy. And the lies, coupled with feigned denial, as you will see from David Axelrod taking to Ed Schultz on Morning Joe this morning, is sickening to this one's soul. Axelrod uses the canard point o...

Bullies They Are!

For responding to her like this , Ed & the meanest person on television are just network thugs like no other! By why get on those mean own MSNBC ULTRA-LEFTIST "AGREES WITH THE WHITE HOUSE ON EVERYTHING" shows when you can go on the lovable and kind Sean Hannity show . Oh substance over style.

Rachel Maddow Is The Scariest Person On TV

Liz Cheney says that Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz, and Chris Matthews are scared to debate her. And suddenly, the "Liz Cheney Fan Club" has started online web ads to make it appear that Olbermann, Schultz, and Matthews are "TEH SCARED" of the "Puppet of the Year!" Just take a look : What makes this even more funny is this fact: Cheney never mentions that Rachel Maddow is scared to debate her. Even more utter hilarity is the other fact that Maddow and her producers have asked Cheney to appear on their show. But, there has been nothing but silence from her and her fan club on doing that interview. Surprise! Steve Benen adds his usual great two cents : To borrow a phrase, why doesn't Liz Cheney want to talk substance? Why doesn't she want to debate the issues? Because she is intimidated and frighted at being interviewed by the nicest, smartest person arguably in all of American news television. I guess being smart and nice is intimidating nowadays. E...

Oh Ms. Huffington

Image
I have usually defended Ariana from those in the rational online community who feel she is just an overall opportunist riding the obvious clear liberal wave. Now granted, she is all about making that paper. No question about that. And with how the Huffington Post has started to cater to the right-wing a little by not doing a good job with its science journalism or allowing teabaggers to comment all throughout, it has justifiable turned others looking for "pure news" online more to the likes of TPM , TP , back to the Raw Story , TWI to name a few. But she has at least been on the side of common sense, which is more than I can say bout many others on TV nowadays. The defense of her, however, ends here for the moment. Because yesterday, while she was slamming the media over Balloon Boy and Ed Schutlz yesterday about still covering the story after he was located, take a lot at her website during her discussion: And here: So Huffington complains about the media still covering the...

Robert Greenwald Is Truly A God Send

This legendary figure doesn't get the pub that Michael Moore does, but he is just, if not, more valuable than the great Moore. But instead of yelling about investigations on CIGNA, the far right comedians continue to yammer on about an investigation on ACORN. Sad.

6/19/09- TWD's Agenda For This Friday: The Needed Push For A Slowly Deteriorating Situation

Ed Schultz speaking truth to power this week, as he almost always does: Despite a 76% backing of the public of a public option in health care, Democrats are treating it more minority than the Minority Party itself. And the reason why is because insurance companies are in their pocket just as much as they are the Sad obnoxious Party. In Iran, Ayatalloh Khamanei has again, backed the results. And this time, he also includes a stern warning Iran's Supreme Leader has issued a stern warning that protests against the country's disputed presidential election results must end. In his first public remarks after days of demonstrations, Ayatollah Khamenei said the outcome must be decided at the ballot box, not on the street. He said political leaders would be blamed for any violence. TWD Cinema will be back today, with Year One and The Proposal coming out. And the reviews on them are half hearted, to say the least. Long day today as always. Let's get right into it.

Ed Schultz Righty Calls Limbaugh "Un-American"

Ed Schultz is one of the important voices we have on news television today. Honesty, forthright, and empathetic, Schultz's show on 6 PM is a must watch for those looking for the truth that has sadly been missing over the years in our news media. Yesterday, Schultz rightfully called the "blowhard of blowhards" Limbaugh for what he really is: un-American Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy He couldn't have said it any better. He couldn't have meant it any more.
