Yesterday's Leftovers For 6/10/10: Your Village Media Idiots, Laughing At Unions Practicing Democracy

Village stupid elitist at it's very worse, courtesy of the Bi-polar one and Alan Greenspan's wife: Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy You get that ladies and gentlemen. "Union leaders were so dumb," and "Blanche Lincoln was running against the establishment." Let me repeat that last sentence for you, because I know it is hard for you to digest and not spit something out on your computer screen when you heard and read it. "Blanche Lincoln was running against the establishment." Only in the Village can the Villagers can say something so extraordinary like that. Only in the Village. What makes this so appalling is that Mitchell and Matthews give the viewer their personal pathetic feelings of love for their Beltway friend Blanche, and how the White House should have protected her at all costs so their friend won't have to leave the "House of Lords", I mean, the Senate. And they don't ...

Yesterday Leftovers For 6/9/10: Brave Anonymous Sources, The New Super Power

Image
I swear, being anonymous is like the superpower that is realistic enough that we can all have as human beings. You can't fly, and you can't look between walls, lift buildings, or run super fast (unless you're Usain Bolt). So the power of keeping your presence kept a secret is indeed one that anyone can posses and milk to its full satisfaction (or your full satisfaction). And that power is certainly well used in the journalism world, particularly last night with that classless idiot White House official basically slapping unions in the face after "Ms. MemeMEME" won last night. I sure wish "Super Soaker, play with Biden" Ambinder and Ben Smith would have reminded that courageous White House official about how they wasted money on Arlen Specter and all. But I guess the power of being anonymous was so strong, that he or she couldn't even get questions challenging their asinine statements.

The New York Times Embarrasses Itself.................AGAIN

Image
Half of this writer thought that when I saw this New York Times piece on Bill Halter yesterday , I was perplexed by the timing of the article. Two days before the primary runoff he's favored to win, and you run an article that has the ability to cause voter deflation for Halter and not for Blanche Lincoln? Hmmmmmm? Well, that "hmmmmm" turned out to be a good "hmmmm." And that suspicion of another New York Times' hit piece has come full to full bore . The New York Times conveniently picks today to run a hit piece on Bill Halter. It’s rife from top to bottom with misinformation. One “Lara Bergthold, a left-wing political consultant” is quoted, who worked with Halter on the 2003 Wes Clark campaign: “The one thing that united the campaign was dislike of Bill Halter,” Ms. Bergthold said. “He was the only person I know of that left the campaign not of his own volition.” Wes Clark is, without question, one of the most despised candidates of all time by h...

DE-VAS-TA-TING

In an ad that truly sheds no tears, the AFSCME gets about as brutally honest as you can get on the future ex-Senator of Arkansas Blanche Lincoln. It is indeed truly a relentless ad that delivers the straight truth to any Arkansans still indecisive going into the runoff in a fortnight's time . From the SEIU to now the AFSCME, the ad hammering that Lincoln has taken from labor groups has been such a joy for many to witness (and I don't even remember the AFL-CIO delivering their own add or MoveOn.org's own delivery to rub more salt into appropriate wounds). And mentioning her Virginia home as well? It's a perfect delivery, a perfect tone, and a perfect day to laugh at arguably the most "Me, Me, Me, Me" Senator in "The House of Lords." And that is an amazing thing to do, to win that difficult distinction, isn't it?

The Pressure Of Primaries: Dodd Doesn't Weaken Derivatives Language In Already Semi-Weak Fin Reform Bill

Image
She's a populist crusader now ! A far-reaching proposal to regulate derivative trading will not be scaled back in Wall Street reform legislation, at least for now, multiple Senate aides confirm. The development comes as welcome news to an unusual mix of progressives, financial officials, and at least one conservative Democrat: Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR). Lincoln is the author of the derivatives title in the Senate's financial regulation bill, and for weeks has faced opposition from Wall Street, the White House, and members of her own party over a provision to force financial firms to spin off their derivatives trading desks into stand-alone entities. The proposal to weaken the derivatives title was ultimately drafted by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd--the Democrats' chief financial reform negotiator--and introduced yesterday at the eleventh hour of the debate over Wall Street reform. In it, Dodd proposed kicking the spin-off provision down the road for t...

Primary Night Live Thread #2: Halter Forces Lincoln Into A Runoff

Image
Neither could get 50%, putting even more pressure on the Virginian native Lincoln. Because she truly is from Virginia now. A great night for "The Left", even if "The Left" will never be given credit for a great night.

SEIU Hits Back At Obama's Weird Proclamation Of Lincoln's "Populist" Ways

Image
Two days ago, Sam Stein broke the story of how President Obama even went further than President Clinton in his support for Blanche "Me Me Me, All About Me" Lincoln by cutting that radio ad for her . That ad as you well by know now tried to paint Lincoln of all Senators as a populist figure looking out for the little people in her state over the corporate insiders she gladly banters and appreciates in the Beltway. When I saw that ad, I thought it was literally a joke almost as bad as Obama's drone joke on Saturday (or the pathetic display Jay Leno put on Saturday at the Correspondents Dinner). That ad certainly was begging for a response from somewhere to combat basic exaggerations from the President on Lincoln. And that response has come from the SEIU thankfully. From the industrial Greg Sargent : The SEIU is going up with an ad on black radio in Arkansas that directly contradicts President Obama's claims about Blanche Lincoln on health care and Wall Street r...

They Continue To Support Her

The White House just loves themselves some Blanche Lincoln : "Leading the fight to hold wall street accountable" and "She stands besides the side of workers." I guess this is the stuff that didn't make the cut for his comedy speech on Saturday night. It would have been a hell of a lot better than the drone joke , that's for sure . It really is amazing how they just won't stay out of this primary (and probably the Sestak-Spector one), and want to help an insane centrist insider who cares all about herself first and foremost before she does anyone else. Bill Halter's momentum has made Lincoln so desperate as to request that Obama cut her an ad. The President has done just so, as she tries to remain right in the "House of Lords." It is a shame that they are choosing to throw a bone again for Lincoln instead of just staying out of this primary. I guess they have truly become Washington themselves, no matter how much they try and play ...

A Surprise To No One

Image
It should not cause outrage that a friend supports a friend . In a boost to embattled Dem Senator Blanche Lincoln — and a bit of a blow to primary challenger Bill Halter — fellow Arkansan Bill Clinton is throwing his support to the incumbent Senator, his spokesman confirms to me. Halter’s entry into the race had kicked off a round of speculation about who Clinton would endorse, given that he hails from the state and remains very popular with Dem primary voters. If Clinton had remained neutral it would have been a big boost to Halter. Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna tells me, however, that the former President is supporting Lincoln. “Senator Lincoln asked President Clinton several months ago to support her reelection,” McKenna says. “He said he would, and he does.” Clinton as everyone knows now is a New Yorker. So what if he supports his friend like expected? The former president doesn't live there anymore and frankly won't be the deciding factor in this race. Ads l...

AFL-CIO Drops Lincoln, Commits $3 Mill To Halter

Image
This broke late tonight , as the momentum from the base for Bill Halter grows. Add Richard Trumka and crew to those glad that he wants to make Lobbyist Lincoln go to real full time job. A labor source confirmed to TPMDC tonight that the AFL-CIO voted to back new Senate candidate Lt. Gov Bill Halter over Sen. Blanche Lincoln in the May 18 Democratic primary in Arkansas. Three unions within the umbrella group have committed to a $3 million independent expenditure on Halter's behalf. All day long, the Rational Online Community has poured in the obvious support since the great news well back at the crack of dawn. And in the night time stage of this 1st day of March, the big unions are ready to going in on the fight against the establishment, which includes the White House. They, like everyone else, are sick of Lincoln: The backing of the AFL-CIO is an important one for any Democrat. For Halter, it signals that the unions are prepared to put their money where their mouth has be...
