The Flashback Fridays #1 For 9/19/14: Method Man & Redman - Da Rockwilder (1999)

In 1999, the only duo who could really challenge Outkast's top spot was certainly the timeless combination that was the Wu Tang star and Def squad standout. Before "Idlewild" was even thought of, Meth and Red had their movie out as well as their Fox's sitcom. No matter what you thought of those productions, they served as a sign of how dominate and legendary their run was during that time period. So in today's return of The Flashback Friday, it always is a full honor to feature the up tempo classic from 15 years ago. It's the Meth and Red show in full glory, with "Da Rockwilder." More from TWD to come, stay tuned.

The rapper -- whose real name is Clifford Smith -- covered his face with a book as he was led out of the 120 Police Precinct stationhouse, St. George, at about 11:10 this morning en route to his arraignment in Stapleton Criminal Court. Officials allege Smith, 38, of Arden Heights, didn't file New York State Income Tax Returns from 2004 through 2007, failing to pay $32,799 in personal income tax during that time. The arrest was announced by District Attorney Daniel Donovan and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Acting Commissioner Jamie Woodward this morning. No surprise despite an album where I heard is worse than his last "Mehhh" release "Encore". I guess that's what happens when you are 36 and still talk about drug problems and serial killers. Eminem's "Relapse" brings the rapper back to familiar ground -- the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. With 608,000 sold in its first week, it not only nets the biggest sales week of the year for any album, but the best since AC/DC's "Black Ice" began with 784,000 copies last October. And another example of CD's not being brought anymore compared to yesteryear: When "Encore" was released, it sold 711K. And remember how massive the Marshall Matthews LP was. 1.76 mill sold in the first seven days. Also in the album sails news, Meth and Red probably knew they weren't going to break the bang piggybacking off of Eminem, but damn, I know Busta Rhymes has got to be wondering what more could he do . 1 Eminem Relapse 608,000 4 Redman &...
