The Domestic Public Official Reel Feel #1 For 11/20/12: They Still Are Listening To 7-House Man

Just last night (November 19), Rachel Maddow asked a question that should have been asked since 2000, and especially since 2004 (And way before that too). Why does anybody still listen to John McCain on foreign party? (And Republicans in general on basically anything). Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy And yet, on that very same channel 12 hours later, Chris Cillizza did just that very thing that centrist Beltway journalism/media figures love to do: Listen to John McCain. Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy Just another simple, short highlighted sequence of why our centrist journalists in the Beltway fail our country so very much.

TWD 2nd Thread For 6/22/10: McChrystal Creates The Story The Beltway Will Try And Talk About All Week

Image
Oh dear : WASHINGTON (AP) -- The top U.S. war commander in Afghanistan apologized Tuesday for an interview in which he said he felt betrayed by the man the White House chose to be his diplomatic partner, Ambassador Karl Eikenberry. The article in this week's issue of Rolling Stone depicts Gen. Stanley McChrystal as a lone wolf on the outs with many important figures in the Obama administration and unable to convince even some of his own soldiers that his strategy can win the war. In Kabul on Tuesday, McChrystal issued a statement saying: ''I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened.'' It's not a good look at all when generals do interviews nowadays, or any military figure that is unless it's the polish and astute Admiral Mullen. McCrystal's reckless mouth makes questions about "Why are we over there?" become even louder and louder in my mind, regardless of th...

John McCain Really Hates The U.S. Constitution Now

Image
He gives us a highlight each and every day : "Don't give this guy his Miranda rights until we find out what it's all about. That would be a serious mistake at least until we find out as much information as we have." -- Sen. John McCain, in an interview on Fox Business Network, about Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized American citizen arrested for the attempted bombing in New York City. Someone has recognized how insane and pestilent McShame's latest sad comments are : Eaton, a political independent who says he’s voted for both Republicans and Democrats, ripped McCain and King’s comments as “wholly inappropriate,” adding that not Mirandizing the suspect risks making it tougher to win a prosecution of him in court. “I don’t understand how a Senator or a Congressman can challenge the Mirandizing procedure,” Eaton, who is also a senior adviser at the Dem-leaning National Security Network, told me. “The laws are clear. Rep. King and Senator McCain have advocated a po...

The Fun Thread #1 For 4/30/10: Openly Gays Aren't Allowed In The Army, But A Lady Gaga Video Parody Dancing Is?

John McCain and all the bigots may have a hissy fit if they see this video. Especially since it was in Afghanistan where this all went down at. And they may somehow use this video to highlight once again their lovely bigoted position of how gays shouldn't be in the military, even hough Lady Gaga isn't gay. Oh......and if they use that philosophy, then I guess that means that these individuals who participated in this hilarious video must be discharged from their units. More to come in the fun thread folks.

The Most Immature 73 Year Old Person In Human History

Image
Not a surprise he chooses to fight like he is still in 2008 thanks to his fear of losing in 2010 and defend the "Lou Dobbs" Bill . Especially after the appropriate comments from the President yesterday . Gettin’ hotter in Arizona: Immigration hawk John McCain says that if Obama doesn’t like the immigration law, he should send in Federal troops, reports the Arizona Republic. “If the president doesn’t like what the Arizona Legislature and governor may be doing, then I call on the president to immediately call for the dispatch of 3,000 National Guard troops to our border,” McCain said. “And that way, then the state of Arizona will not have to enact legislation which they have to do because of the federal government’s failure to carry out its responsibilities, which is to secure the borders.” McCain not only wants to just stick it to Obama (although he'll always fail in that), but also because of how much trepidation he is feeling from J.D. Hayworth in that nutty pr...

The One Sentence Thread For 4/21/10: Still Not Over That It Seems

If we are struggling still on social race issues in America , how in the hell can we really tackle the class of wealth issues.

He Gets Worse And Worse And Worse

Image
And worse and worse : Newsflash: John McCain is no maverick—and has never been one. From a David Margolick Newsweek article : "Maverick" is a mantle McCain no longer claims; in fact, he now denies he ever was one. "I never considered myself a maverick," he told me. "I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities." At least he didn't deny that Meghan McCain is his daughter.

The Straight Jacket Award For 3/15/10: A Guy Who Makes John McCain Look Sane

Image
We have a very competitive contest today for this award. The news of Virginia's Attorney General being a birther broke today from the " Not Larry Sabato " blog. But there had to be something even more special to top him from winning the award. And that came from the insane mouth of John McCain's new rival J.D. Hayworth : "Now how dangerous is that? I mean, I don't mean to be absurd about it, but I guess I can make the point of absurdity with an absurd point -- I guess that would mean if you really had affection for your horse, I guess you could marry your horse. It's just the wrong way to go, and the only way to protect the institution of marriage is with that federal marriage amendment that I support." Being a bigot and also a nutcase is what this guy is all about. Who knew that there would be a crazier guy from Arizona than even the likes of McCain and Jon Kyl right now? It is an amazing feat accomplished by only one J.D. Hayworth, a des...

The Best Reactions To A "State of The Union Address" Ever

Tonight, there has been a lot of stupidity to go around. Chris Matthews placed himself into Howard Kurtz's vapid attention span for a whole month for arguably the dumbest statement he has ever made in his illustrious career of dumb statements. He forgot that President Obama was "Black". Now sadly, that unbelievably dumb comment (he'll probably clarify it tomorrow) will probably get most of our pathetic media's attention. What should get their attention in an ideal world, however, is how Supreme Court Justice Sam Alito embarrassed himself and the rest of his colleagues tonight like few other (if any) have done in his position. Angry that Obama called them out on the now forever controversial decision last week of the Citzen United vs the FEC, Alito visibly loses control and shakes his head at the presidents comments, and then mouths of a "Not true" for all to see. Watch it: If Sam Alito can respond to the pressures of the job in a fashion that...

Amnesia! McCain Did What Franken Did In 2002

Image
2008 was the year in which I thought John McCain's hypocrisy could not transcend to a higher level. With all the filth and reversals that the "worst candidate in Presidential history" offered to the nation, I thought maybe in the following year he would scale back on how embarrassing his behavior and comments were to his long shaky image of supposedly being "Mr. Straight Talk". But today, in another classic job of muckracking from the terrific Faiz Shakir, McCain's cries of Al Franken breaking the decorum of the Senate for interrupting his pal, "The Guy Scared Of Rachel Maddow", by following the Senate rules, rings even more hallow then it did yesterday. The reason why? We'll, because he did exactly want Franken did seven years ago . Unfortunately, McCain’s memory is suffering. In fact, McCain has engaged in the very same behavior that he was criticizing Franken for yesterday. On October 10, 2002 — just ahead of the looming mid-term elections —...

Coolest Speech Background Ever

Image
I mean, it was. Kind of had me thinking it was Tetris like. Maybe Conan should do something about it . Then again, it can't top this background :

One Year Ago: The Final And Decisive Point Of Last Year's Election

Shame that it finally took this to make sure Obama's win would be certain, when it should have been decided way back in June. But hey, it sure is memorable though for how great it was a year ago. After Lehman falls, here is what McCain regrets to this day. And it lead to this punishing ad: And now, you can see President McCain on your Sunday morning TV sets almost every single week.

So, Will You be Allies If He Goes That Way?

Image
Once again, thinking they are Presidents of the United States, since it is now the new hot thing to do in the Beltway streets, Senators Larry, Moe, and Curly said something this morning in a WSJ op-ed piece (what a surprise) about how we need to stay strong in Afghanistan just like they said with Iraq. And Spencer Ackerman noticed this interesting thing in that piece of debris early in the morning : In the interim, the president and his allies— and we count ourselves among them on this issue —must invest significantly greater effort to explain why, as the president recently put it, Afghanistan is a “war of necessity. [Emphasis added.] Now, let's be clear here. Obviously, they will be angry as hell if Obama does the opposite, which would be the common sense thing to do for this country and the soldiers fighting a war that has gotten out of control to the point of not favoring us. It is a war when the agenda has shifted drastically over the years, where the question of "Why are...

The Daily Open Thread For 9/3/09: McCain Explains To Conan How Twitter Is Fun

President McCain's media tour continues........He can still whip up some funny stuff, especially on Twitter. Amazing how this man, just in the middle of last year, didn't check or know how to work his email. More email to come.

The Daily Open Thread For 8/31/09: One Year, Two Days Ago

....This classic moment in American politics happened: And this also classic moment in television history And the classic reaction to that choice a few days later: I wonder how that classic decision played out?

McCain Says "Interrogations Were In Violation Of The Geneva Convention," But Blames Obama DOJ For Investigation

The up and down nature of John McCain. This came after Dicky Dick said what he had to say to defend his disgraceful self. Well, at least his daughter wasn't a puppet for him this time like she always is.

LOL.....Man At McCain HC Town Hall Gives Him The Business

This just can't happen enough. And McCain says "See ya." What a swell Mavericky, tough question answer he is. And of course, the local newspeople don't have the knowledge to understand how serious and real that man's claims were. They just treated it clearly as, "Oh great, this will be great for the news, an entertaining sound bite that we can easily put on the 10 PM news!" And just for you to know, The Spatula and the Worst Candidate for president in the Nation's history said this crap : Last night, McCain told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that America just “is not ready” for quality “government-run health care.” Well, you can start the McCain 2012 campaign if we want, lol. (Wait, I said LOL in a statement?)

The Daily Open Thread For 8/3/09: The Nerve

Image
Of all the people that should be talking : Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who was of course President Obama's Republican rival in the 2008 general election, has announced that he will vote against Sonia Sotomayor, "And regardless of one's success in academics and government service, an individual who does not appreciate the common sense limitations on judicial power in our democratic system of government ultimately lacks a key qualification for a lifetime appointment to the bench. Obama's first nominee to the Supreme Court." An unqualified Presidential candidate like no other who picked the most unqualified person ever for the Vice Presidency, saying someone is unqualified. Yeah, like that makes sense. Well Arizonians, you can vote him out next year or just want him back. Though without Napolitano in his way now, I guess he made this choice without having to worry about the Hispanic backlash in Arizona. He just loves attention, doesn't he? Open Thread's Giveawa...
