Sports Sunday Thread #1 For 7/18/10: South African Golf Succes Continues As Louie Oosthuizen Dominates The Open Championship

Image
Photo from Getty Images' Andrew Redington What a performance. Louis Oosthuizen has won the 150th Open Championship at Royal St. Andrews, dominating the field the last three rounds and giving South Africa a second consecutive major champion after Graeme McDowell won one month ago at the US Open . The seven shot victory certainly exhibited just how brilliant this once no-name's performance was. But no longer will this man be anonymous in the golf world, especially after a victory at golf's grandest stage. And it was on Mandela's 92th Birthday today too!

Sports Thread #1 for 7/16/09: Another Bad First Round At A Major For Tiger At The British Open

Image
Another bad opening round for Tiger Woods today at Turnberry. He put himself in the hole at the Masters, and he did likewise at the US Open. And for a third consecutive time, he will probably need to shoot three flawless rounds in a row to to tie his friend Roger Federer for 15 big ones. Tom Watson had a true flashback to the past day today with his tremendous 65 to place him one behind Miguel Angel Jimenez, who is at -6 and definitely set to win himself another major.
