The Flashback Fridays #1 For 10/2/15: Common - The Light (2000)

Image
One of the truly great songs of not only a magical and timeless 2000, but really ever, with a video that perfectly matches it. It's Common serenading his then wifey at the time in Erykah Badu with the special song that is "The Light," from 15 years ago. It's the first of several flashbacks today on Flashback Friday. More to come in a bit.

The Flashback Fridays #1 For 7/31/15: Common - Sweet (2011)

After Meek Nil's awful (first) diss back at Aubrey, here is a "diss" that was already made actually less atrocious with how embarrassing Tweet Mill's was. It's Common's largely forgettable 2011 song that had the middle of the first and second verse aimed at Drake during their Serena Williams love triangle. "All that La La, you ain't no motherf--king Frank Sinatra." More to come from The Whole Delivery today.

A special song captures by an even more special video. Easily one of the most underrated tracks of all time in any music, as well as music videos history. I mean, it only has 4 million views on Youtube. So sad.

Sunday Soulful for 9/26/10: John Legend Feat Common & Melanie Fiona- Wake Up Everybody (2010)

So, this week's selection is John Legend with Common and Melanie Fiona (with a little assist from Black Thought & Quest Love) with "Wake Up Everybody."

U2 has a new song they would like everyone to hear : Common will have a re-release of "Resurrection", his 2nd album terrific effort . He is definitely a smart kid . As you all know by now, Mashonda's favorite two people in the world got married over the weekend . Also marrying this weekend, though more quietly, were T.I . and Jazzy Jeff . You're probably well aware of what Lady Gaga did over the weekend . She didn't cancel her concert in Arizona, yet rallied against SB 1070 despite it of course not having the controversial elements in it.

Music Thread #1 for 12/1/08- The Listen: Redman Returns!

Image
Photo from google.com A few new material that you may like. Though it's another ode to Brooklyn from Jay-Z (about the 40, 000 song), it's about the 40,000 solid at the very least effort from the mogul. One of the few things of late that Kanye has done right was this beat . "Brooklyn Go Hard" truly represents it's title. Common's got a new joint with Chester French called "What a World." "Oh Yesssssssss." Redman is back with his new song "Lay You Out" featuring someone by the name of "Oh No". And for your non hip hop taste, Pink is back with a new video called "Sober." Peace!

Music Thread #2 for 10/28/08: New T.I. and Christian Aguliera Videos, and News.

T.I feat Rihanna with "Love Your Life" Then, the waste of talent that is Christina Aguliera keeps on getting cliche with "Keeps Getting Better." This video will make you literally ask, "What the hell was she thinking?" In News The Cool kids continue to be, literally, cool kids: Lately, The Cool Kids are doing more than just touring America with Q-Tip [click to read] and EPMD's DJ Scratch for the 2K Sports Bounce Tour [click to read]. Music Thread #1 for 10/10/08- The Flashback Video #1: Common: Come Close

Through this is not an absolute throwback (for it came out in the year of 2003), make no mistake that one of the best videos released in this decade is this beautiful delivery from Common. Arguably his best video ever for how poignant it is, for those who may not have seen it, I don't need to describe it. All I can say is please watch it, for it will brighten your day, no matter how it is going, guaranteed (unless you are John McCain, Sarah Palin, or any staunch conservative in America). Even if you are not a fan of hip hop, you will love this song. Literally, you truly will. Here's "Come Close" with Mary J. Blige real heart felt hook, part of this Friday's The Flashback at TWD. Come Close - Common feat Mary J.Blige (And also, IMEEM doesn't have to deal with the uncaring Universal Music Group unlie youtube right now. Thank goodness, and (not to offend any atheists out there because I'm speaking for myself here), thank God.
