The Gravel For 8/6/09: In The Worst Surprise Of The Year, Sonia Sotomayor Is Now A SCOUTS Judge

Image
(Image from TPM ) Who honesty cares if she doesn't break John Roberts record for most "yea" votes. I honestly don't. And by the way, they not only placed the first Hispanic Judge on the Supreme Court, but they placed the most experienced judge ever on the court. Update: And here's the video:

Well, At Least He Didn't Slam Sotomayor This Time

Though climate change common sense people like me and others with sense, he sure did slam.

The Daily Open Thread For 8/3/09: The Nerve

Of all the people that should be talking : Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who was of course President Obama's Republican rival in the 2008 general election, has announced that he will vote against Sonia Sotomayor, "And regardless of one's success in academics and government service, an individual who does not appreciate the common sense limitations on judicial power in our democratic system of government ultimately lacks a key qualification for a lifetime appointment to the bench. Obama's first nominee to the Supreme Court." An unqualified Presidential candidate like no other who picked the most unqualified person ever for the Vice Presidency, saying someone is unqualified. Yeah, like that makes sense. Well Arizonians, you can vote him out next year or just want him back. Though without Napolitano in his way now, I guess he made this choice without having to worry about the Hispanic backlash in Arizona. He just loves attention, doesn't he? Open Thread's Giveawa...

You Just Can't Teach This Stupid

Image
You really can't Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has accused the Democrats of using race as a wedge issue in the Sonia Sotomayor confirmation process -- that is, the Dems have been "giving cover to groups and individuals to nurture racial grievances for political advantage." "I don't think it influences people's votes, but what it does encourage is a very poisonous -- indeed a very toxic -- tone of destructive politics," said Cornyn. "They ought to be ashamed of themselves." The fact that this man is a U.S. Senator shows how sad a state this world is in today.

Maddening Malks Sure Had Herself A Morning

Her usual Loony Tunes attack didn't stop at the Barack one , but extended to his misses: It also extended to Sotomayor. Both the Obamas and then Sotomayor. At least she didn't attack Gates..............yet.

7/16/09: TWD's Agenda For the Day: It's Almost Over, Thankfully

Image
Photo from the AFP No more having to hear about missed opportunities on both sides. No more having to see GOP Senators make racist fools of themselves. No more having to hear Chris Matthews say stupid things on legal issues. No more having to hear Andrea Mitchell say things about Al Franken. No more having to think how even more ridiculous the coverage is on CNN in comparison to MSNBC (Jeffrey Toobin aside). No more having to think on Fixed Propa........ No more having to hear about balls and strikes (I get that enough from the MLB). No more having to realize how much of a condensing guy John Roberts really is. No more after today. Well, welcome back to the forefront health care reform. What do you know?

SOP Senators Make Terrible Comedians

( SOP for those who don't know stands for Sad Obnoxious Party ) Now a lot of people have used Ricky Ricardo and that famous phrase plenty of times. Even cartoons targeted for kids have used it (I think an episode of Rocko's Modern Life used it, but I maybe wrong). So from the basis, it wasn't too offensive. However, it was just another poor effort at being funny from an out of touch Senator in Coburn. He made some people laugh though since it came out of nowhere and was both bizarre and random. But to use that one in front of a Puerto Rican American who is about to become the next judge on the Supreme Court is well, not smart at all.

The Sleep Time and Rise "n" Shine Thread #1 For 7/13-14/09: The Real Story Of Day One Was...........John Roberts? Yes

Leave it to Senators Russ Feingold and Sheldon Whitehouse to show us all the real story today of day one: Not showing how moderate Sonia Sotomayor is, but how radical John Roberts, our nation's Chief Justice, is. Feingold first: "Be weary of a phrase judicial activism." "That term seems to have lost all usefulness." "So many rules of the conservative majority of the Supreme Court could be consider activist in their disregard for precedent in their willingness to ignore or override any intent of Congress. Perhaps the best definition of judicial activist is a judge who decides a case in a way you don't like." Just real. And then Whitehouse "But that point comes when these words come as slogans, not real critiques of your record." "Code words seeing a particular judge." "The umpire analogy is belied by Chief Justice Roberts. Though he cast himself as an umpire. Some umpire." "Serving the interest and the value of the...

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy Still love like down below...... Sessions is a hypocrite heritage A hole. Kyl is, well, "Krazy Kyl" as always. Senator Feingold keeps it realer than most again. And Chuck Schumer really kept it real. Before Lindsay Graham kept it real, which I can't believe he just did (and I just typed). Then he said the word "advocate" and brought up the Puerto Rican defense thing. Oh boy.

.....By The Way, Megyn Kelly Continues To Show How Much Of An Idiot She Is

The standard of Fixed Propaganda anchors to say stupid things like this......... "Wise Latina", Megyn Kelly? Her level of "Teh Stupid" just enlarges by every passing minute.

7/13/09- TWD's Agenda For the Day: CNN And MSNBC Asking The Old Questions Still

Image
Photo from AP And let's no go there on this idiot thinking that Sotomayor "Wise Latina" moment was "racist". No wonder why Juan Williams is a useless clown. Another thing that have been apparent this morning from the outside view is boring American Morning on CNN and MSNBC's Mourning Joke is the fact that they continue to ask the supposed controversial questions on Sotomayor now even as the weeks pass and her confirmation is all but guaranteed outside of some utterly bizarre moment. "Was she racist against the white firefighters?" "Is she a judicial activist?" "Was she only here based on affirmative action?" All of those inane interrogative moments and more that are along the same lines has already started up again this morning, and will continue for the rest of the day. Either way, it won't stop the first Hispanic from being apart of SCOTUS. Update: Media Matters provides the information to correct the terrible reporting...

C-0-N-F-E-R-E-N-E-C-E.........CONFERENCE!

The "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" of the week. And to think, Buchanan and his "Scripps Howard" geniuses were making fun of Sotomayor struggling to write well in college (which almost ALL college students, including myself, struggle to do). I love irony.
