The Flashback Fridays #1 For 7/1/16: Nelly Furtado - Say it Right (2006)

Image
For my Canadian connects on their Happy Canada Day, will have a few Flashbacks from standout Canadian artists not named Aubrey Graham. The first being from the one and only Nelly Furtado, at peak of popularity 10 years ago with this classic off her Timbaland backed album "Loose." She had many hits on that album, with this one being the biggest and her best song of her career after "Fly Like a Bird." It's "Say It Right", your first Flashback Friday choice this week, especially for my Canadian connects. ‪ This is The Whole Delivery.

The 1st Thread/Music Wakeup Call For 12/5/13: Nelly Furtado - The Spirit Indestructible (2012)

Still one of 2012's best songs and videos. It's a shame how a global, sensational artist like her had an album so poorly promoted by Interscope last year. More to come at The Whole Delivery later today, stay tuned.

TWD Notes' Most Tolerable Songs of 2012 For 12/20/12: Nelly Furtado- The Spirit Indestructible

Image
Without a doubt, the tremendous and yet remarkably still underrated global superstar that is Nelly Furtado had one of the best releases overall in music, especially in the continued predictably of radio's desperate, American pop music. And though "The Spirit Indestructible" was not the first single on her 5th album, as "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" got that honor, there's a reason why it was strong enough to hold the title for this song and her latest CD overall. You just don't hear many songs about people's self-determination from either gender in Western music, a perspective that is from an underdog's position. It wasn't about "party tonight," let me get a great party word or phrase to get a great hit, as most songs nowadays on the Billboard Top 100 focuses on, no matter if they are truly have great instrumentals and are pleasing to listen to. Instead, with Furtado the message is always real and pure, and she is always...

TWD Sunday Fun Thread For 12/2/12: Celebrating The Free Singing Queen

Image
In celebration of the 34 years young Nelly Furtado's B-day (she turns 34 today), here is this amazing moment that frankly has not gotten the attention it deserves. If Youtube existed in 2001, I can definitely say that this classic press conference would be easily well known and considered classic folklore.  At the 2001 MTV European Awards, a Turkish female journalist basically thought that Nelly Furtado was, well, not skinny.  Now despite Nelly never looking fat to anyone rational, this lady had to ask that. But instead of being just generic, Nelly made this an incredible spectacle.  She didn't let the lady off the hook, but she was blunt in her still loving, consistent, real way. There will be more Nelly Furtado Appreciation Day at The Whole Delivery, stay tuned. And also, just stay blessed too.

For the third time, your morning wakeup call is the unbelievably and underrated classic from Nelly Furtado. It's "I'm Like A Bird" on this April 29th day:

Music AM Wakeup Call #1 For 4/5/10: Nelly Furtado- I'm Like A Bird (2000)

Because the sun is shining so bright here on the Northeast coast (and throughout most of America), there will be two great morning wakeup calls. The first will be, once again, from the brilliant Nelly Furtado. Well, before she became even more heavily engrossed with Timbaland then she was at the beginning of the last decade. And it is her carefree classic once again being a perfect wakeup call for this morning: But stay tuned....because there will be a very rare second one for you all to see and enjoy. It's TWD Morning folks.

The Flashback Friday #2 For 2/26/10- Nelly Furtado- I'm Like A Bird (2000)

Yes, it was the "Wakeup Call" yesterday , but ran out of ideas for what would be a second Flashback song. Also, this song is just that great. Anyway, here is the second Flashback music video for this Friday, Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like A Bird."

Music AM Wakeup Call For 2/25/10: Nelly Furtado- I'm Like A Bird (2000)

Despite the goodness of her working with Timbaland and all over the majority of the last decade, I'll take this Nelly Furtado over any other version. This is her best song to date in my mind. And it is your morning wakeup call for this morning:
